Across-the-Board Adjustments:

On August 16, 2014 each Contract Lecturer who was and who continues to be an active
Contract Lecturer will receive an Across-the-Board increase of 1.25%.

On August 16, 2015 each Contract Lecturer will receive an Across-the-Board increase of
1.5%.

On August 16, 2016 each Contract Lecturer will receive an Across-the-Board increase of
1.75%.
Service Adjustment

Contract Lecturers continue to receive an increment (called Service Adjustment). The
service adjustment is a flat amount.

Eligibility for a service adjustment is based on the existing rules, that is, Contract Lecturers
will be eligible to receive a service adjustment for each two semesters of sessional
appointment and/or for each three semesters of part-time appointments. A reminder that
the Spring/Summer semester is excluded with respect to eligibility for a service
adjustment. As such, only the Fall and/or Winter semesters are included.

The Service Adjustment amount for August 16, 2014 to August 15, 2015, August 16, 2015
to August 15, 2016 and August 16, 2016 to August 15, 2017 is $2,500.00 for eligible
Contract Lecturers.

Starting Salary Flexibility:


The Dean has the right to hire new Contract Lecturer with a starting salary up to value of
five Service Adjustments (up to $12,500) above the minimum of the Salary scale which is
as follows:

August 16, 2014 to August 15, 2015 - $74,897.34

August 16, 2015 to August 15, 2016 - $75,833.30

August 16, 2016 to August 15, 2017 - $76,941.63
Should the Dean require to hire new hires beyond the value of five Service Adjustments
he/she is to obtain the approval of the Vice Provost, Faculty Affairs. Thereafter, the Dean
will provide the union with the rationale for the salary deviation.

Overload Payments:



Overload rate for a three hour course is $6,300 and this rate is pro-rated based on
the number of hours in the course.
Overload rate of pay does not apply to Contract Lecturers who obtain a separate
contract to teach a Continuing Education course through The Chang School in
addition to their Unit 1 teaching contract.
Contract Lecturers cannot work more than two overload courses (or equivalent) in
any one of the three semesters, i.e.) Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer (Spring/Summer
is one semester). This applies to total overloads of day and CE course programs or
equivalent.
Replacement Contract Lecturer’s Compensation:

Compensation-in-lieu of Benefits:
 Compensation-in-lieu of benefits rate is 2.50% of the Contract Lecturer’s base salary for the
duration of their appointment.
Salary for Non-Teaching Academic Tasks:



Creation of a new course - $6,000, one-time lump sum payment
Major revision/change (i.e. more than 50% of the course changes) - $3,000, one-time
lump sum payment
Minor revision/change - $500 to $2,000, one-time lump sum payment
Payment for Duties beyond the Terminal Date of Appointment:


$100 per hour to Contract Lecturers who are required to participate in and/or complete
activities beyond the terminal date of their appointment.
Two hour minimum payment is required.
