Press release
Listening to Romanesque history
Visitors of the cultural route TRANSROMANICA now have the
possibility to individually discover the treasures of the Romanesque
era in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany), Thuringia (Germany) and the Province
of Modena (Italy) by means of newly developed audio guides. The
audio files enable tourists to learn more about the era of
Romanesque art, single monuments and their myths and legends. All
guided tours are online available free of charge.
Magdeburg, 9 November 2010 Interested travellers and visitors of Romanesque
monasteries, churches and medieval monuments now can experience the
cultural heritage in a new way: by audio guided tours. Multilingual short
descriptions of the monuments can be downloaded to a portable mp3-player
and then be listened to during the visit. It is also possible to listen to
the files directly and to plan the journey with the help of the integrated
travel recommendations. Furthermore, tracks for children were developed and
allow the discovery with voices of personalities and animals.
Around 13 monuments of the three regions are described in the portal,
further 70 audio tracks can be enjoyed on the partner portal of the
Province of Modena www.visitmodena.it by simply completing a visitor survey
that aims at improving services of the audio guides - participants have the
chance to win an overnight-stay in a VCH-partner hotel in Germany.
On the portal of Modena, users can choose audio guides for thematic
itineraries based on their own interest: fortresses and castles, palaces
and villas, piazzas and historic centres, museums and libraries, history,
nature, folklore and gourmet cuisine.
The production of the audio tracks as well as the installation of the
download portal are supported by the project CrossCulTour, co-financed by
the ERDF.
