Hall Director
Hello Everyone!  Welcome to Belvin Hall and the FAMC
community! I am Younna Smith, the Residence Hall Director of
Belvin Hall. I attended the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss)
where I received a B.A. in Sociology. I received a M.S. in
Education with a concentration in Higher Education from California State University,
Fullerton. I discovered my passion for working with students as an undergrad working as a
resident assistant, which led me to expand my studies in student development. I am
passionate about social justice, diversity and inclusion, access, and promoting student
development and community. The FAMC community allows residents to excel in what the
love doing and to showcase their talent and skills. The FAMC community is a great place to build

Resident Advisors
Hello Belvin Residents! My name is J'Maiya Steward and I am a 21-year-old junior. My major is Food
Service Management with a minor in Business. I am from Pearland, TX and have two dogs, Patches
and Simba. When I am not studying I enjoy reading, writing, and shopping for makeup and clothes.
My lucky number is 13 and my favorite animals are owls and dogs. This will be my second
semester working in Belvin Hall and I could not be more excited. My favorite
part about working here is the personalities of the residents. I look forward

Hey ya’ll! My name is Adriana Brent. I am a Music Therapy major and will be a junior this upcoming
school year. I consider myself a Southern Belle who enjoys music, crafts, and outdoor activities. The

Hi everyone I’m Antonio Zamarripa, but ya’ll can call me Tony! I'm currently a
sophomore and a Mass Communication major studying Film. Belvin Hall is an amazing
place to live because it’s a great place to be social and make new friends with the same interest as
you! Some of my hobbies are being fit, watching movies, playing video

I’m Alli Spindle and I’m a junior at SHSU! I’m a General Business
major with a minor in Mass Communication. I love SHSU because the
professors are awesome and the campus is full of beautiful scenery. Some
things I enjoy are playing video games (race me in Mario Kart!), sleeping,

My name is Rachel Ross and I am currently a Junior here at Sam Houston State. I am originally from
Mesquite, Texas. I am a Criminal Justice major with a minor in Chemistry. I am an active member of
Project Sunshine. This is currently my second year as a Resident Advisor here at Belvin. After living
and working here I've witnessed how beneficial the FAMC learning community is to this
population of students. It allows residents the ability to cultivate their talents in an area that is

Hi! I’m Pary Johnson, an Environmental Geography major, meaning I
love science and nature. But I also love music and sound, and the
original major that brought me to the FAMC was my Mass Communications
majors (but alas, I switched). The FAMC is a one-of-a-kind place, and only after a
short time it felt like my home away from home. Otherwise, my life consists of instruments such
as guitar, bass, banjo, and really any stringed instrument I can get my hands on. So don’t be
afraid to ask me to play a song or two with you! Also I’m an avid gamer and nerd all the way
around. If I had to choose my favorite game, it would be the Legend of Zelda series, hands
down. I’m also a comic book nerd standing on the side of Marvel, with Spider-man being the

Graduate Assistants
Hello! My name is Emily Alwynne Davis. I can’t wait to meet you! I am a first year graduate
student earning my MFA in Dance. I just graduated in May from Belhaven University in
Jackson, MS with a double major in Dance and Intercultural Studies. I grew up in
Gainesville, Florida, but my family has lived in College Station, TX for two years now. I love
living in Texas because the people are so welcoming and friendly! In addition to being a
dance artist, I am an ESL teacher. I recently earned a CELTA certification from Cambridge

Hello Belvin Residents! My name is Ellie Parker and I am one of your Graduate Assistants. I'm a
Master's student studying Saxophone Performance in the School of Music. Originally from the
UK, I moved to America a year ago and was lucky enough to live and work in Belvin during
the first year of my masters. In my opinion, the best thing about living in the FAMC Creative
Community is the opportunity it offers for collaboration and the amazing facilities
available to residents. In my free time I like to socialize with my friends, go to gigs and
