Foundation Dress up as your family day
From the Principals Desk
Special Assembly Monday 24th April
We will be saying farewell to Gail McKerchar who retires on 28th April. Gail has worked at
Rangeview for over 11 years as the first aid officer, serving the needs of many students during this time.
All families are welcome to attend to say goodbye. Anzac day will also be commemorated at this assembly.
Facilities update
The last single portables were removed last term and the area cleared. This area has been seeded with
lawn grass as an interim measure while plans are being drawn up. Funding has been allocated to Rangeview from the Condition Assessment Report in 2013. This funding is to address poor to fair infrastructure
and the scope of works has to be approved by our School Council and the Department of Education and
Training. It is anticipated works to address sleeper walls in poor condition will begin during the July term
holidays.
Transition
By this Friday afternoon year 6 students will receive their transition forms for nominating their secondary school of choice for 2018.
I have mentioned before that it is timely for families with year 5 students to be visiting secondary school options during this year to
develop an informed opinion of the right school for their child. So keep a look out for open evenings and days and tours to view a school
in action.
Foundation Students in 2018
Planning is well underway for 2018 Foundation with weekly tours and information packs in the local preschools and day care centres.
Families appreciate the opportunity to see the school in action with students with staff engaged in their learning and parent involvement
evident throughout.
The Foundation Evening on Thursday May 11th will cover the many aspects of the student’s first year and subsequent years of school
with teachers and students speaking. If you have a child starting in Foundation next year I encourage you to attend the information
evening in May and hand in your enrolment form ASAP.
CLASS AMBASSADORS Meeting 26th April at 9.10am
Class Ambassadors meeting is next Wednesday the 26th April at 9.10am in the staffroom. This provides an opportunity for the Rangeview
P&F to keep these parents aware of upcoming events and canvas support for Mother’s Day stall, Mum’s Night Out and hot food days.
The meeting will include looking at the vision for the school as part of the school review in 2017 and setting the direction for 2018-2021
School Strategic Plan. This is an open meeting for interested parents from 9.20am to contribute to the discussion. The 2016 Annual
Report to the School Community will be available as well.
NAPLAN (National Assessment of Literacy and Numeracy)
Preparations for NAPLAN are under way. Students in Level 3 & 5 are preparing for NAPLAN (National Assessment Program of Literacy
and Numeracy). This preparation is a regular part of the daily instruction in the classroom and will include the types of questions they may
encounter in the test. I acknowledge the importance of this national assessment and I suggest that if parents have any concerns about this
assessment they speak to their child’s teacher. The schedule for NAPLAN is:
Tuesday, 9th May – Literacy (Language Conventions and Writing)
Wed, 10th May - Literacy (Reading)
Thursday, 11th May - Numeracy
