the bridal style
Brittany carried a hand-tied bouquet
of red and black Baccara roses, red and
dark burgundy calla lilies, and purple
and burgundy dahlias. The vibrant
bouquet added contrast to her pearlcolored, silk shantung gown.
Brittany Petersen (now 26
and a marketing specialist)
and Jason Dickson (also 26 and a business
account manager) met at a party—“I walked in
and immediately locked eyes with Jason, who
was playing cards,” Brittany says. Brittany made
her way into the game and the twosome spent
the rest of the night talking and laughing. Just
five months after they’d started dating, Jason
proposed in a sculpture garden at Christmastime.
Brittany opened a box from him and found a
miniature stocking tree ornament inside. Before
she could thank him, Jason interrupted and told
her to hold out her hand. As she did, he held
up the ornament and a gorgeous ring fell into
her palm. “Jason completely surprised me!”
Brittany says. —A.W.
their story
the boutonniere
The groom wore a calla lily on the
lapel of his classic black tuxedo.
the cake
Brittany and Jason’s wedding
cake doubled as their head table
centerpiece. It resembled Brittany’s
gown, with edible lace running
down both sides. Instead of a table
number, the gift tag hanging from
their cake featured a D monogram. >>

the reception decor
Brittany chose latte accented with
pearl as her primary wedding
palette. Flowers in tones of dark red,
burgundy, and plum complemented
the color scheme. She also used
repeating stripes and polka dots
throughout the wedding day details.

the centerpieces
Miniature cakes wrapped with
fondant in different patterns to look
like presents topped each reception
table and acted as centerpieces. Each
cake had an edible gift tag with the
table number on it.
the ceremony
The ceremony took place in a
traditional-style church near the
reception site. The couple added
candle torches with latte-colored
bows to mark the aisles and placed
floral arrangements at the altar.
the bridesmaid looks
Brittany’s four bridesmaids wore
dresses that perfectly matched the
color scheme. Each maid wore a
strapless, latte-colored, floor-length
dress with a bubble hem and a lattecolored ribbon around the waist.

the programs
The couple created their own
programs by gluing together
striped and polka-dotted paper,
designing a cutout so their

the first dance
Brittany and Jason danced first
to Michael Bublé’s “That’s All,”
which they’d chosen because
the tune seemed reminiscent
of the Frank Sinatra era.
