PRESS RELEASE Royal VKB Slowcooker Slowcooker With the introduction of our Slowcooker, Royal VKB embraces the latest trend in the kitchen: slow cooking. Fresh ingredients are put in the Slowcooker without the need for oil as the slow and gentle cooking process itself tenderises the ingredients allowing their full flavours to come out. All the original vitamins, minerals and flavours are fully preserved during this method of cooking. Once the Slowcooker has been placed in the oven, the chef can then relax, their job is done! The Slowcooker can be used in two ways simply by turning it over: the white dish is very suitable for the preparation of meals for one person or side dishes whilst the larger terracotta bowl can be used for meals for 2-3 persons. Please note though that the terracotta part of the Slowcooker must always be immersed in cold water for 10 minutes before filling it with any ingredients. Once filled the Slowcooker can be placed straight into a cold oven and then be heated to a maximum of 230°C. Due to the porous nature of the terracotta material, the Slowcooker is ideal for the preparation of stews. As the ceramic is moisture-retaining, steam is released while the dish heats up in the oven, it is this action that makes the use of oil redundant as the steam makes sure the dish is thoroughly cooked without drying-up or getting burnt. The Slowcooker comes with unique silicone rings on both the top and bottom halves providing the Slowcooker with more stability and as well as acting as a trivet for the protection of the dinner table. This allows you to take the Slowcooker straight from the oven to the table and then use it not only as a serving dish but also to eat from. The Slowcooker is made of stoneware material and packed in an attractive full colour gift box with a recipe manual for some delicious meals. Margriet Foolen The Slowcooker has been designed by Dutch designer, Margriet Foolen (1982). The terracotta casserole was her graduation project at the Design Academy in Eindhoven (NL). On graduation, this young and promising designer immediately launched her own design studio in Bergen op Zoom (NL). She also produces several designs under the trademark “divers”. Because of the creative and innovating aspects, the Slow Cooking was rewarded with the Design Plus Award and the international Red Dot Award 2008 for product design.
