As a member of the Mississippi Association of School Superintendents, you are encouraged to
nominate one senior from each of the high schools in your school district to be considered as
a recipient of one of the four scholarships awarded each year by MASS. These scholarships are
in the amount of $1,000 each.
THE FOLLOWING FOUR SPECIFIC THINGS ARE REQUIRED FOR A
SENIOR’S NOMINATION:
1. The enclosed form must be signed by you as superintendent recommending the
senior.
2. The student’s high school transcripts for the 9th, 10th, 11th and first semester of the
12th grade.
3. The student’s resume.
4. One page essay from the student on his/her future plans; and if selected how the
scholarship money will be used.
Any and all information about the student’s school, community and church activities, which can
be included in the student’s resume, will certainly help the selection committee in their task.
Please be sure the student’s ACT score(s) and his/her class rank are provided as requested on the
recommendation form. If exact class rank is not available, please give the best estimate, such as
“top 10 of 300, etc”. Minimum grade and ACT score requirements are “B” Average and 18
Composite score. You may nominate only one senior from each high school in your district.
The enclosed recommendation form may be copied as needed. Letters of recommendation from
you and others may be included, but are not required.
All information listed must be sent to the following address, and must be postmarked no
later than May 1, 2014.
