Executive Director Re: MASS 2014 Scholarships Date: March 18, 2014 As a member of the Mississippi Association of School Superintendents, you are encouraged to nominate one senior from each of the high schools in your school district to be considered as a recipient of one of the four scholarships awarded each year by MASS. These scholarships are in the amount of $1,000 each. THE FOLLOWING FOUR SPECIFIC THINGS ARE REQUIRED FOR A SENIOR’S NOMINATION: 1. The enclosed form must be signed by you as superintendent recommending the senior. 2. The student’s high school transcripts for the 9th, 10th, 11th and first semester of the 12th grade. 3. The student’s resume. 4. One page essay from the student on his/her future plans; and if selected how the scholarship money will be used. Any and all information about the student’s school, community and church activities, which can be included in the student’s resume, will certainly help the selection committee in their task. Please be sure the student’s ACT score(s) and his/her class rank are provided as requested on the recommendation form. If exact class rank is not available, please give the best estimate, such as “top 10 of 300, etc”. Minimum grade and ACT score requirements are “B” Average and 18 Composite score. You may nominate only one senior from each high school in your district. The enclosed recommendation form may be copied as needed. Letters of recommendation from you and others may be included, but are not required.
