RACHAEL BARNES
My name is Rachael Barnes and I work as the Strategic
Projects Manager within the Centre for Lifelong Learning
(CLL). I have worked in the University since January 2005
and in that time have undertaken roles in financial
management, school administration and most recently
project management. I have two school aged children and
am fortunate to be able to work part-time, daily between
9.30am and 3.00pm. I place great value on being able to
work in an organisation which values respect in the work
and study place and I am the Equality and Diversity
representative for the Centre.”
ANT BREWERTON
Hi – I'm Ant. I'm Head of Academic Services in the Library
which means I'm responsible for a lot of the outward-facing
services we offer – the Academic Support Librarians, the
Learning Grids, Teaching Grid, Wolfson Research Exchange
and the Postgraduate Hub. I have worked here for seven
years and the thing I love most about Warwick is the
opportunity to work with so many really lovely and talented
people.

Pippa Collins is an Accommodation Services Manager for
Warwick Accommodation. She has been working at the
University since 1997 and manages a team who look after
the student residences. She has been a Dignity Contact since
the team was initially put together in 2007 and is happy to
be contacted should anyone need help with any issues

ANN DIXON
Ann Dixon is an Associate Professor in the Chemistry
Department and has been at Warwick since 2005. She is
originally from the USA (Kansas City), and she is a working
mum. In her Department she teaches (both UG and PG
courses), manages her research group, and is currently an
Admissions Tutor.
BEN DOUGLAS
Ben moved to Warwick as a postdoctoral researcher in 2006
and is now a facilities manager in the Chemistry
Department, working with research students and staff and
on commercial projects. He is also involved in the staff LGBT
network group.
VANESSA GOODSHIP
Dr Vannessa Goodship is a Principal Research Fellow at
WMG and is a member of the WMG welfare and
communications group with a special interest in researcher
issues. She spent 14 years in industry before coming to
academia in 1997. She undertakes a range of confidential
mentoring and developmental activities both internally and
externally. She is both partially deaf and very fond of
informal chats over coffee.

STEPHEN HUGHES
I’ve worked at the University since May 2013. Prior to that, I
worked and lived in London for around ten years. The last
time I worked in higher education was when I was a
Students Union sabbatical officer in York from 1995-6. I’m
married with a 2 year old daughter and live locally.
CLAIRE MARTIN
Claire is the Equality and Diversity Coordinator, based in HR.
Claire has worked at the University of Warwick 4 years
starting in the Department of Chemistry working in the
Undergraduate Office from September 2010.
Claire started in her new position as Equality & Diversity
Coordinator in June 2014, as well as being a Dignity Contact
Claire also sits on the Equality & Diversity Committee and
Network.
MARTIN MIK
Martin joined the University in August 2010, working initially
within the Graduate School and Student Records sections of
the Academic Office. In June 2012, Martin joined the
Teaching Quality team initially to assist with the
preparations for the QAA Institutional Review in 2013.
Martin’s current role within the team focuses on supporting
the Faculty of Social Sciences and various student
experience-focused University-wide projects.

FAL PATEL
I work in the School of Life Sciences and provide a broad
range of in-house HR support to include recruitment and
appointment of staff, probation, annual review,
performance, promotion and employee relation cases (all
working closely with the central University HR department).
CAROLINE PECK
Caroline Peck is the Deputy Programmes Officer (Master
Group) in WBS. Caroline has operational responsibility the
Distance Learning MBA. She has worked at the University
for 28 years, in a variety of posts. Caroline is married with
two sons both studying at University. Whilst her children
were at school Caroline worked part-time and during this
time completed her undergraduate part-time degree here at
Warwick.
ANNA PRESTON
Anna has worked at Warwick for over 10 years involving a
considerable amount of one to one work with students in the
past as a careers consultant and currently as the Student
Experience Manager in the Centre for Lifelong Learning.
With training in information, advice and guidance as well as
coaching, counselling and mental health first aid she is well
placed to listen to staff with concerns.

Ros Roke
Ros Roke is Operations Director for IGGY, the University of
Warwick’s social and educational network for the brightest
young people from around the world.
Ros has worked at the University for over 12 years and has
held various roles, including that of Senior Assistant
Registrar in the Institutional Governance Team, Executive
Officer to the Vice-Chancellor, and a seconded role as
Partnership Development Officer for Coventry City Council.
Ros is a member of the Equality and Diversity Committee
and has experience of acting as Investigating Officer for staff
and student cases under the University’s previous Dignity at
Work and Study Policy.
She is a working mum with experience of return to work and
balancing a busy work and home life.
JIM SEWELL
I started here at the University of Warwick as a temporary
member of staff in the Student Finance Team in April 2006. I
took up a full time permanent position as a Student Finance
Assistant in November 2006 with primary responsibility for
Student Loans Company interactions. In 2012 I became a
Senior Student Finance Officer and am now responsible for a
small team dealing predominantly with tuition fees and
invoicing.

GERARD SHARPLING
Gerard is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Applied Linguistics with
a particular interest in equality and diversity issues. He has
been a Pulse co-ordinator and is a member of the Disability
Interest Group. He has also served as an Equality and
Diversity Officer for the Warwick branch of the University
and Colleges Union (UCU).
CLIVE SINGLETON
I am a General Manager in Warwick Conference Park &
Events (CP&E). Looking after the Conferences located on
main campus, the internal catering provision known as
Warwick food and drink and main kitchens. I have worked
at Warwick for over ten years.

Stephanie Smart
Stephanie Smart joined Warwick Medical School in July
2010, bringing with her a lifelong interest in Equality and
Diversity matters. Stephanie joined the Equality & Diversity
committee not long after she joined the University and
continues to serve on that committee. Stephanie was also
part of the Medical School Athena Swan committee which
successfully achieved the Silver award in September 2013.
Becoming a Dignity Contact, she believes that she can share
her knowledge and help support people through difficult
times.
JULIE TAYLOR
I work for Campus and Commercial Services Group and have
worked at the University since 2000. My role is to manage
the day to day Conference and Internal business on main
campus - ensuring the smooth running of the operation and
consistent customer satisfaction. Never are two days the
same in my role – but that is the challenge of what I do –
and I love it! My role as a Dignity Contact is very important
to me and I have been a contact since 2007.
DARREN WALLIS
As CLL’s Director, Darren Wallis has overall responsibility
for its strategic direction, long-term development and
achievement of its mission. Much of the Centre’s activity is
delivered through partnership or collaboration and the
Director acts as a champion and advocate for the Centre’s
work both within the University and externally. Darren has
ultimate responsibility for the quality and sustainability of
the Centre’s activities, though some of the specific duties
are delegated to other senior members of the Centre.
DIGNITY CONTACTS - PROFILES
Darren has undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in
political science from the London School of Economics and
Political Science and spent the first part of his career as a
lecturer before moving into higher education leadership
and management roles, initially at departmental level
before taking on faculty and institutional responsibilities. At
Warwick Darren has held leadership roles in a number of
different settings, including teaching quality, recruitment
and admissions, widening participation, within Warwick
Business School and in corporate governance.
Jane Wilson

Jane Wilson is an Accommodation Services Campus
Manager for Warwick Accommodation. She has been
working at the University since 1992 and manages the on
campus student residences with a team of 300 staff. She has
been a Dignity Contact since 2007. Jane works Tuesday to
Friday. She is happy to help and support anyone.
