Raising the bar Quality Sustainability PANEL RADIATORS 02 WARMER, QUICKER, FASTER 03 = WARMER, QUICKER, FASTER Delivering responsive and controllable system performance Radiators produce both radiant heat (experienced by standing in front of the radiator) and convection heat (which circulates around the room). Quinn radiators feature smaller water channels and more convection fins, enabling them to heat rooms quickly and keep them at reliably constant levels. In terms of total heat output, our radiators give out up to 25% more heat, so rooms get warmer, faster. Research shows that after five minutes, the surface temperature of Quinn radiators is up to 10 degrees higher than other radiators. Convection heat Radiant heat Convection heat accounts for 75–80% of the radiator’s total heat output. It follows that the faster that radiators heat up, the quicker the hot air can begin to circulate, generating convection heat. As this accounts for approximately 75-80% of radiator heat, this is vital. To further speed up circulation, the convection fins are all welded directly onto the water channels, rather than between them, ensuring a more direct connection between water and the fin, which improves heat conduction, output and speed of response. Furthermore, we offer you the flexibility to attach any standard TRV, ensuring you have all the control you need over heating your home. MORE HEAT, LESS COST 04 = MORE HEAT, LESS COST Performance, efficiency and comfort Quinn radiators operate with less water and an increased surface area, therefore able to deliver the same heat output as comparable radiators with a lower temperature setting and reduced boiler energy use. The result: higher efficiency and lower fuel bills. Our UK-produced panel radiators have a unique design that features a 25mm water channel. This means that, on average, our radiators use up to 31% less water than comparable radiators, requiring less energy to heat. The reduced channel size design also creates a higher water velocity, speeding up heat transfer and means that up to 17% more metal is in contact with the water. This enables Quinn radiator profile our radiators to heat up faster, increasing radiant heat and room comfort. This combination of lower water content and increased surface area results in a quicker reaction to changes in thermostat settings, so boilers need to fire for shorter periods. As a result, more of the radiator gets warm, more quickly, at less cost. Saves money According to British Gas, turning down the thermostat by just one degree could save up to 10% on bills. This invariably helps with cost, design and space considerations. Efficiency, percent LOW-TEMPERATURE READY 05 • Higher performance from the same-sized radiator Where a like-for-like replacement is required, Quinn radiators offer a higher output within the same wall space. This means boilers can operate at a lower flow temperature and/or with a lower water circulation rate, reducing both energy consumption and the possibility of ‘velocity noise’ through pipe work. • Future-proof, in preparation for low-temperature heating Fully compatible with low-temperature heat sources such as heat pumps and ground source heating, our radiators ensure heating systems operate at optimum efficiency today, while anticipating tomorrow’s heating requirements. We’ve not only thought about the changing heating requirements for the future, but also the changing demands of the user. All our panel radiators in the UK are fitted with four connectors as standard which allows the pipework and TRV controls to be installed according to requirements of the user, meaning the radiator doesn’t need to be changed when the heating or control requirements change over the lifetime of the home. Because Quinn radiators produce an additional 25% heat output they can operate at a lower boiler temperature, as can be seen above. By reducing the boiler operating temperature it will improve your boiler efficiency. Heat pump 06 RAISING THE BAR = RAISING THE BAR Setting new standards for quality At Quinn Radiators, we regard safety and quality to be every bit as important as performance. Accordingly, we apply the industry’s most technically rigorous tests to our radiators. As a minimum, all of our products are produced and tested in line with BS EN 442 BSI Standard Specification for Radiators and Convectors. However, to ensure they perform safely and reliably at all times, we believe in setting standards as high as possible. We have such confidence in our products that we test to 13 bar pressure and have a maximum operating pressure of 10 bar – some 24% higher than other UK manufacturers. This ensures that even in domestic use, our radiators perform to industrial quality, giving peace of mind at no extra cost. Unlike most other radiators, they are made from just one sheet of steel; so instead of the standard four welded seams, they have just three. This means fewer potential weak points and leak paths and more reliable service. Their unique round-top profile also means there are no sharp edges. Instead, their safe and smooth finish protects hands and skin. Its high output and quality production makes it the best choice for long-lasting quality, low maintenance, easy to clean, not to mention the exceptional outputs making it the most cost and energy efficient radiator available. The Hi-Lo Round Top delivers reliable comfort and is fully compatible with low-temperature heating systems so no matter what temperature the boiler is set to, or whether you use it in conjunction with air source and ground source heat pumps, you can still maintain a cost-effective and warm home. The high outputs mean you need to oversize your radiators less, if at all, leaving more room in your home for your belongings. The universal design allows you to install it as a Round Top or a Seam Top radiator depending on the desired look. The Hi-Lo Round Top radiator comes without any side panels or grills so there are no removable parts and no obstacles for the heat to circulate so will have the quickest warm-up time and highest outputs of all our radiators. Quinn Hi-Lo Centre Tap range is designed to work with convectional heating systems and being perfectly compatible with low temperature heating systems. The Centre Tap range delivers the same high heat outputs as our panel radiator but with the versatility of a centre tap connection. If the requirements of the home changes, for example the heating system temperature changes, the radiator can be replaced without having to disrupt existing walls or pipework. Triple Convector LIGNA Nominal 51 LST LST The Low Surface Temperature radiator is the key product for safety and cleanliness where children, elderly and other vulnerable individuals are involved. The Quinn Low Surface Temperature Radiator casing is designed to meet the NHS Safe Surface Temperature Regulations for use in hospitals and other care facilities. The surface temperature of both our single and double panel plus LSTs conforms to the 43°C surface temperature requirement, based on a Delta T of 50°C. The casing is made from a single sheet of steel with no visible welds or sharp edges and can be fitted with internal or external TRVs for easy and safe control. The casing is hinged to fit over the emitter radiator and is fitted with a locking device to prevent unauthorised access and allow for easy cleaning and maintenance. As a separate component, the casing can be easily retro-fitted over an emitter or replaced if damaged. The casing has a white paint finish in RAL 9016 giving a brighter, longer-lasting finish, along with an anti-microbial coating to ISO 22196 standards for additional cleanliness. Key performance features and benefits: 52 Mounting Details LST Actual Dimensions The length and height of the correct emitter may be obtained by subtracting 200mm from the length of the cover and 270mm* from the height. Tapping to tapping dimensions may be obtained by subtracting 5mm from the nominal emitter length. (*150mm on 450mm high LSTs) Note: The actual emitter is contained within the cover and its location can be determined by consulting this installation diagram. Note: Dimensions H1, H2 and H3 refer to the lugs on Double Panel Plus and Double Convector radiators. Dimensions J1, J2 and J3 refer to the lugs on Single Convector Radiators. The emitter is packaged in picture frame wrapping with integral protection for the backclips and wrapped in a vacuum sealed heavy duty polythene. The cover is packaged in a four-sided box to give complete protection. All radiators in the range are supplied with two or more brackets depending on the length per emitter and two brackets per cover. The head is secured by tightening the unit through a pre-formed knock-out in the LST cover. A specially designed grip on the valve head facilitates use by people with limited hand mobility. These are unsuitable for single pipe systems. Internal TRV Control Head Consists of a 15mm angled valve body and control head fitted to the emitter inside the LST cover, with an external sensor attached by a self-adhesive pad to the underside of the cover. Caravan brackets are specially designed to eliminate any up and down or sideways movements of radiators when fitted into caravans, mobile homes or other mobile locations. These items must be ordered separately to the radiator. GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS 61 GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS Material & Finish All Quinn radiators are manufactured from high quality cold-rolled steel with a nominal thickness of 1.2mm. Every Quinn radiator undergoes an intensive pre-treatment process to protect against rust. The radiators are then finished with Epoxy Polyester Powder paint similar to RAL 9016 which may be over painted if required. Quality All radiators are manufactured under a BS EN ISO 9001:2008 Quality System accepted by BSI and are manufactured and tested in accordance with BS EN 442. All radiators are individually pressure tested to 13 bar and are suited for a working pressure up to 10 bar. Packaging Every radiator is protected top and bottom over the whole length and height with heavy cardboard box ends and packed in shrink wrapped polythene. Brackets All radiators in the range are supplied with two or more brackets depending on the length. Two pairs of lugs are fitted on radiators up to and including 1600mm long. A third pair of lugs is fitted centrally on radiators 1800mm long and over. Connections Each radiator is manufactured with four 1/2” BSP TBOE connections. All BBOE tapping-to-tapping dimensions may be obtained by subtracting 5mm (1/4”) from the nominal radiator/emitter length (accurate to + 2mm). Installation For indirect systems or closed circuits only at a working pressure not exceeding 10 bar. It is strongly recommended on completion of the installation, the system should be properly flushed and filled‑in accordance with the British Standard Code of‑Practice for the Treatment of Water in Domestic Hot Water Central Heating Systems BS 7593. Use of a corrosion‑inhibitor is strongly recommended. Failure to observe this recommendation will invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty. Warranty All radiators are supplied under warranty for a period of ten years in respect of defective materials or manufacture. The Quinn standard conditions of sale apply to all transactions. A copy is available on request. Conversion Information The outputs quoted in this publication are based on a Delta T of 50°C. To calculate other operating conditions, the following example should be applied: Example: Add flow water temperature (75°C) and the return water temperature (65°C) together (140°C), divide by two (70°C) and then subtract the room temperature (20°C). This will give you a Delta T factor of 50°C.
