City of Huntington releases spring/fall 2014 paving list
HUNTINGTON -- The City of Huntington released its spring and fall 2014 paving list on Friday,
May 30.
The list represents approximately $1 million of paving projects. The city has $480,000 remaining
in this fiscal year’s budget for paving and $1 million for Fiscal Year 2015, which begins July 1.
The remaining paving funds in next year’s budget will be applied toward the spring 2015 paving
program.
Compiling the list began with City Council members submitting requests to Mayor Steve
Williams. The Mayor’s Office and officials in Public Works partnered with the West Virginia
Division of Highways to prioritize the requests based on traffic volume, road condition and other
factors.
The City of Huntington piggybacks on the West Virginia Division of Highways’ paving contract.
The work will be done by West Virginia Paving. The company paved three streets in the West
End of Huntington earlier this month and will begin working on the rest of the list in June.
