15 Points
Grade Level & Subject Area: 4th, Math
Arkansas Framework: (_____/2 points)
CCSS.Math.Content.4.OA.A.1
Interpret a multiplication equation as a comparison, e.g., interpret 35 = 5 × 7 as a
statement that 35 is 5 times as many as 7 and 7 times as many as 5. Represent
verbal statements of multiplicative comparisons as multiplication equations.
Objective (What are the students’ going to accomplish): (_____/1 point)
Students will be able to interpret a multiplication equation as a comparison
Materials: (_____/1 point)
Computer, Promethean, Interactive Lesson from Promethean website (Jungle
Multiplication), Handout (Multiplication Comparisons)
Procedure: (_____/5 points)

I will use the Interactive Lesson (Jungle Multiplication) as a review over
multiplication.
Students will participate in the quiz at the end of the lesson.
I will make a comparison statement about a multiplication equation
o For example, Interpret 35 = 5 × 7 as a statement that 35 is 5 times as
many as 7 and 7 times as many as 5.
We will practice on interpreting multiplication equations as comparison
together.
Students will be able to interpret a multiplication equation as a comparison.
For assessment, Students will be given a handout to practice on
interpreting multiplication equations as comparisons.
Assessment (How will the students’ show you that the objective has been met):
(_____/1 point)
Students will be given a handout to practice on interpreting multiplication
equations as comparisons.
A Brief Description of the Entire Lesson: (_____/5 points)
Students will be reviewed on multiplications using the interactive lesson. (Jungle
Multiplication) I will make a comparison statement about a multiplication
equation. I will show the students how to interpret multiplication equations as a
comparison. We will work on some multiplication equations together as a class.
Students will be given a handout to practice on interpreting multiplication
equations as comparisons.
