The probationary period will begin at either progress report time or report card time. Before that time,
you will receive notification about any low grades but they will not be used to place your child on probation.
If the student is placed on probation and does not improve at the end of the probationary period, they will
be removed from AVID and placed in an alternate elective.
If a student is placed on probation and they make positive steps to improve, they will be removed from the
probation list. If another problem occurs, they will be placed on probation before they are removed from
the program.
Every effort is made to help your student be successful in the AVID program and we encourage all
students and parents to help in the effort. Working together will achieve AVID’s mission statement and
create students prepared for college.
