HEDLAND YOUTH WEEK CALENDAR OF EVENTS Fri 8 April Deadly Skate, Coaching Sessions Port Hedland Skate Park, 3.30pm - 6.30pm Hedland Youth Week 2016 kicks off with coaching sessions for the annual Deadly Skate competition. The sessions will be hosted by ‘Freestyle Now’. Fri 8 April LEGO Movie Port Hedland Skate Park, 6.30pm - 8.30pm Unwind with the family for a children’s classic movie. Pack a picnic and relax on the deck chairs for some quality family fun. PG rating. Sat 9 April Deadly Skate, Coaching Session South Hedland Youth Space, 4.30pm - 7.30pm Round two of coaching for the annual Deadly Skate competition. Come on down and learn new skills from the ‘Freestyle Now’ team. Mon 11 - Fri 15 April Words and Pictures JD Hardie Youth Zone, 9.00am - 11.00am Use your favourite book, movie or story as inspiration to create some works of art. Mon 11 - Fri 15 April RiZe JD Hardie Youth Zone, 9.00am - 11.00am A whole week of music workshops culminating in a performance on 16 April. Stanley from Kadaance will teach you some new skills and help you use music to tell your story. Mon 11 - Fri 15 April Traditional Games JD Hardie Youth Zone, 11.00am - 12.00pm Play traditional games and learn from a local elder about traditional aboriginal games from here and around Australia. Mon 11 - Fri 15 April Health Fair Fri 15 April Have a feed, learn something new and do fun activities with Helping Minds, JD Hardie Youth Zone, Town of Port Hedland, Wirraka Maya and Population Health. Come down and watch a spectacular display of talented local performers, hosted by Youth Involvement Council. The finalists have worked hard showing off their skills, who will be named the winner of Hedland’s Got Talent? JD Hardie Youth Zone, 12.00pm - 2.00pm Mon 11 - Fri 15 April Game On JD Hardie Youth Zone, 2.00pm - 3.00pm The sports program is designed to build up a sweat, learn new skills and most importantly have fun! Sports include cricket, soccer, basketball and more. Tues 12 April Driver Education Day Hedland’s Got Talent, Finals South Hedland Square, 6.00pm - 8.30pm Sat 16 April Tournament ‘Be at your Best’ Youth Basketball JD Hardie Youth Zone, 9.00am - 5.00pm Come down and score some hoops. Wirraka Maya Health Service TTA program will be hosting the inaugural “Be At Your Best” Youth Basketball Competition (this is a smoke free event). Registration will open at 9.00am, with the first round starting at 10.00am.There will be music and prizes to be won on the day! Bookings are essential. Fri 15 April The Kazoos: Teddy Bear Picnic Matt Dann Theatre & Cinema, 11.00am and 2.00pm The Kazoos are one of Australia’s most loved children’s entertainment acts. They deliver a show that is wholesome, educational, interactive and highly entertaining. There are two showings and tickets cost $25 for all ages.
