Dear Parents,
NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY: There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 5,
because of the Labor Day holiday.
$CRIP ORDERS DUE: $crip orders are due by noon on Tuesday, September 6, because of the Labor Day holiday. Your orders can be sent to school, given to Marge Kollis, or
dropped off at Sew ’n More. If you are not currently using $crip and would like to, please contact Marge Kollis for details. Sixty percent of the profits you earn can be used towards your
student(s)’ preschool or ICS tuition. The other forty percent goes to ICS. ($crip Committee)
T-SHIRT DAY: Next Friday, September 9, the students are asked to wear their new
purple t-shirts that they received at Open House. We are planning to take a group picture of
the whole school in their new shirts that day.
ALL SCHOOL FIELD TRIP: The students will be attending Heritage Village in Sioux
Center on Friday, September 16, following our pictures. We are planning to leave at 9:30 9:45 a.m. We still need drivers for the field trip. Please contact Mrs. Vander Veen or
your student’s teacher as soon as possible if you can drive. The students will also need
to bring sack lunches that day. Thank you.
SCHOOL PICTURES TO BE TAKEN: School pictures will be taken by Photography
by Hank on Friday, September 16, beginning at 8:30 a.m. An envelope showing the picture
packages available is being sent home with each student today. Before a student can have
his/her picture taken, he/she needs to have a pay envelope filled out and returned. These envelopes need to be returned to each student’s teacher by next Friday, September 9. Please
note that a class picture is included in all packages. If you do not purchase a package, class
pictures may be purchased for $9.00. If you wish to have a younger child’s picture taken, pick
up a pay envelope from the school office on September 16.
HEARTS & HANDS MEETING: Hearts & Hands will be meeting on Monday evening, September 12, in the music room beginning at 7:00 p.m. The agenda for the meeting is
attached to the newsletter. Please bring it with you to the meeting. Hope to see you there!
The Big Soo Coupon Books will be available at the meeting if anyone needs some for themselves or friends and family. (Hearts & Hands)
FAMILY PICTURES: We are again displaying pictures of our ICS families on the hallway bulletin board. We are still in need of quite a few pictures, so if you have not already sent
in your picture, please do so as soon as possible. Thanks! We will also be using these in
our picture directory that we hope to get out to the families as soon as possible also.
TEXT MESSAGES: Did you get the “test message” this past Monday? If you did, you
are in the system and should continue to receive messages all year. If you did not receive the
“test message” and wish to start receiving them, please go to the following links and complete
your sign up. We want to encourage everyone to participate. Even though you may have
listed your numbers on your registration sheet, you need to go to the links and complete your
sign up as the school is unable to just sign you up.

BIG SOO BOOKS: Hearts & Hands is offering Big Soo Coupon Books for sale for
$40.00 each. They contain many offers and discounts for restaurants, hotels, car washes, entertainment, and more in
the Sioux Falls area. There is a supply available at Sew ‘N More, or you can also contact Leah Vande Vegte for your

KITCHEN SUB: If anyone is interested in helping in the kitchen when Marge is gone or on special days, please
call the school (712-753-4541) or contact Marge at 712-470-6678.
COOKIE BAKING NOTE: Your cooking baking note was due yesterday, September 1. If you have not already
sent it in, please do so ASAP or if you would rather, send an e-mail to [email protected]. (Cookie Committee)
TEACHER WEB PAGES: Be sure to check the web pages of your students’ teachers for important information.
As the year goes on, the teachers will update with assignments and information that pertains just to their class. You can
find each teacher’s web page by going to the ICS website, click on contact us on the top right, click on staff directory,
and then click on the teacher’s web page you wish to see.
REMINDER: If your student(s) will be going somewhere other than their normal destination after school, the
school needs a note (or at least a phone call) from parents telling us this information. If we do not receive a note or
phone call, your student(s) will be sent to their normal destination.
PARENT/STUDENT HANDBOOK: The Parent/Student Handbook was sent home with the students at Open
House/Opening Day Chapel. Take the time to acquaint yourself with the policies of ICS.
NICSTO FORMS/ICS SCHOLARSHIP FORMS: NICSTO and ICS Scholarship forms were due today, Friday,
September 2. Page 1 of your tax form which shows the family income must be attached to these forms. If you have any
questions concerning this or if you need another form, please call the school office at 753-4541.
FREE/REDUCED HOT LUNCH: Hot lunch applications for free/reduced lunches need to be turned in ASAP.
Just a reminder that if you qualify for free or reduced hot lunches, you also qualify for free or reduced breakfasts.
School breakfasts are served from 7:50 - 8:15 a.m.
BOOK ORDERS: Many of our students order books through the book clubs available through school. For easier bookkeeping purposes, the school sends one check to the book company when placing book orders. If you send a
check for your student’s book order, please make the check payable to Inwood Christian School, not the book club
as stated on the order form.
SCHOOL DIRECTORY: The 2016-2017 class enrollment list and the school directory are being sent home with
the newsletter. The staff directory can be found in the back of the Parent/Student Handbook.
INWOOD AWANA CLUB: The Inwood Awana Club will be kicking off our new year on Wednesday, September
21 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Inwood Christian Reformed church. Kids in Pre-school through the sixth grade are all
invited to join us! The Awana Club focuses on sharing the Gospel of Christ through Scripture memory, hand-book lessons, and fun games! We meet on the first and third Wednesdays of each month through April. A donation of $10 per
child is recommended but not required to join. Please contact Leah Vande Vegte at 712-753-2966 if you have any
questions. We hope to see you on September 21! (Inwood Awana Club)
