Welcome to The Peter J. Tobin College of Business
For more than seventy-five years the
Tobin College has offered opportunities for individuals from throughout
the world to study in New York City’s
dynamic business and cultural
environment. Our curriculum
emphasizes a strong cross-functional
understanding of business practice,
experiential learning, and a global
perspective, all in a values-based
context. At Tobin, we believe that
operating ethically and with a passion for high principle is a powerful
business and career strategy.
It’s not surprising that you can find
our alumni in leadership positions in
great organizations worldwide,
including every major investment
banking house, each of the Big 4
accounting firms, a large percentage
of the Fortune 500 and leading management consulting firms.
Alumni Corner
“My MBA from St John's provided the theoretical and practical
foundation that played a pivotal role in my success at PwC. I am now in
my 25th year with the firm.”
-Stephen V. Murphy, Tax Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP
“The MBA classes at Tobin brought real life business into the
classroom and really helped me to sharpen my analytical thinking
and strategic planning skills.”
-Jency Jones, Manager, Broadridge Financial Solutions
“The biggest benefit of obtaining my degree from the Tobin College was
the wealth of knowledge and experience that the professors and students
shared each day.”
-Colm Flynn, Analyst, Anglo Irish Bank
“All these years later I still use the skills I learned at Tobin. I benefit daily from
Tobin’s values and entrepreneurial spirit. The people I met there have helped
me in my career and have become life-long friends. Twenty years later, I’m still
a part of Tobin, and Tobin is a big part of me.”
-Thom Gray, Chief Financial Officer, Catholic Medical Mission Board
Tobin College Highlights
Two New Leading-Edge Programs
Beginning in Fall 2010, The Tobin
College will be offering an M.S. in Investment Management and an M.S. in
Enterprise Risk Management on our
Manhattan campus. These innovative
programs will enable our graduates to
distinguish themselves in today’s
tumultuous business world.
Executive-in-Residence Program
Reporting to and guided by clients’
senior managers, Executive-inResidence students seek solutions to
complex, real-world business challenges. Recent clients included: The
New York Stock Exchange, Broadridge
Financial Solutions, MassMutual,
Cushman and Wakefield, KPMG,
NationalGrid/Keyspan, Ridgewood
Savings Bank, and Weiser Accounting.
The Student-Managed Investment Fund
The Tobin College’s multi-million dollar Student-Managed Investment Fund
allows students, under the supervision of an advisory committee of faculty and
distinguished alumni, to invest a portion of the University’s endowment. Our
state-of-the-art Financial Information Lab, also referred to as the “trading
floor,” provides student Fund managers with real-time information on securities prices and performance, earnings estimates and M&A and IPO activity.
Global Destination Studies
Students in the Global Destination Studies program explore a specific contemporary topic at their home
campus and then travel for 10-days to two weeks to experience the global world of business first-hand.
Destinations include countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America. This program is flexible enough to
accommodate both our full- and part-time students.
Study in Rome
While St. John’s has had a campus in Rome, Italy, for more than a decade, 2008 saw
the opening of our new Graduate Center. This new facility is truly outstanding.
Students at Tobin have the opportunity to complete all or part of their MBA in
Rome. Earning a business degree from an AACSB-International accredited business
school in the middle of the European Union is an invaluable professional achievement and personal experience.
Graduate Internships
For-credit internships provide business students with valuable work
experience, enhancing their classroom learning. Our New York City location
opens enviable opportunities for significant real-world experience at leading
companies operating locally and globally.
