Arts & Crafts, Campcraft, Drama, Sports, Nature and Friday Festival will focus on our weekly themes.
Week 1– June 19-23
THEME: CAMPING OUT
WACKY WEDNESDAY: Wacky Hat Day
ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS:
Campfire building and cooking, lashing, campsite prep,
teepee making, plant and weather identification,
marshmallow relays, campfire stories and skits, classic
lawn games, and camping inspired art.
Week 2 - June 26-30
THEME: A STORIED ADVENTURE
WACKY WEDNESDAY: Walt Disney Day: Dress up
as your favorite Disney character
ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS:
Activities take inspiration from classic stories and
tales. Archery with Robinhood, hiking in Bambi’s forest, Tarzan challenges in Adventure, sewing for Cinderella, fairy sign language, woodland manners for all
sizes, Monster soccer, dancing like Belle, drumming
rhythms, and survival skills for castaways.
Week 3 - July 5-7
THEME: INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION
WACKY WEDNESDAY:
Dress in Red, White, and Blue!
ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS:
Patriotic themed art, Wiffleball, gaga, nature study of
Massachusetts native species, campfire baked apples,
shoot for the stars in archery, Route 66 landmark
challenges, and patriotic fashion show.
Week 4 - July 10-14
THEME: BEATS, BELLS, AND BONGOS
WACKY WEDNESDAY:
Dress like a rock star day!
ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS:
Cow bell relays, music tree hike, instruments by indigenous people study, instruments made with natural materials, music in nature by frogs, birds, and insects, football, intro to marching band & flag corp,
rainsticks, drumming, tribal dance, and sounds used
to create emotion.
Week 5 - July 17-21
THEME: DOG DAYS OF SUMMER
WACKY WEDNESDAY:
Dress for the beach! Don’t forget the sunscreen!
ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS:
Water relays and games, friendship bracelets, gimp,
leather crafts, frog study and hike to bog, volleyball,
wiffleball, pet crafts, line dancing, Kick the Can, Capture
the Flag, and homemade ice cream.
Week 6 - July 24-28
THEME: WINGED WONDERS
WACKY WEDNESDAY:
Dress up as your favorite winged creature or character.
ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS:
Kites, paper airplanes, story trail, butterflies, dragon
flies, and bird study, kickball, Ultimate Frisbee, music
study on pitch and tone, bird calls, follow the leader
dances, shadow puppetry, sound effects, and rocketry.
Week 7 - July 31-August 4
THEME: CELEBRATING SPHERES
WACKY WEDNESDAY: Wacky glasses day!
ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS:
Bubble activities, parachutes, homemade sundials, solar
oven cooking, solar prints, dodgeball, Snag golf, music
notes, ball-et, gaga, balloon science and water balloons.
Week 8 - August 7-11
THEME: FEELING FROSTY
WACKY WEDNESDAY:
Color Wars!
ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS:
Basketball, broom hockey, ice and ski relays, fire building and safety for surviving in cold temps, arctic themed
crafts, snow experiment, paper snowflakes, snow songs
with Boomwhackers, snowball fights, tree identification
in the winter by bark, and skating popsicle people.
Week 9 - August 14-18
THEME: FUN WITH A TWIST
WACKY WEDNESDAY: Crazy Hair Day
ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS:
Jenga with commands, human knot, campfire cooking,
knot tying, friendship bracelets, plot twists in drama, facial contortions, a twist on any sport, tornadoes in a bottle, owls and twisting in nature, Twister games, the
“Twist” in dance, clay coil art, and tye dye socks.
Week 10 - August 21-25
THEME: S.O.S.– STUCK. ON. SUMMER.
It’s the last week before school, but we do not want summer to
end, right? Instead of escaping from the wilderness, we will try to
get lost in fun and be saved from school.
WACKY WEDNESDAY:
Dress like a pirate Day!
ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS:
Camouflage tips from Woodhaven critters, orienteering, hide a
treasure, twig rafts, fort building, track and field sports, ocean
themed crafts, sea folklore, and Survivor tasks/challenges.
