Characteristics of Life
Assignment
Option 1
• Pick your favorite zombie movie (if you’ve not
seen one, then research one on imdb.com).
You must use evidence from the movie to
determine which of the 8 characteristics of life
the zombies do and do not have. Simply
saying that they are undead is a cop out and
will not count.
Option 2
• Design & describe your own version of
Frankenstein's Monster. It can look however you
want, but it must have most (not all) of the
characteristics of life. You will then play the roll of
Igor, the brilliant and underappreciated assistant to
Dr. Frankenstein. It is your job to write a letter to Dr.
F telling him what he did right and wrong on his
monster and how to fix it using each of the 8
characteristics of life.
Option 3
• Research honey bee workers and determine
which characteristic/s of life they have and
which are missing, and if they should be
considered alive or not (explain). Include
information about how they function within
the hive.
Requirements
• 1 page typed minimum
• must be Times New Roman font, size 12 pt.,
double-spaced
• All 8 of the characteristics of life must be
mentioned & explained
