full steam ahead into the second semester. There are
a couple of different areas that will be receiving
updates/clarification this semester. They are as
follows:
Upcoming Events
Morning Drop Off
We will only be using the pull through lane in the front
of the school for morning drop off. Please do not
drop your student off in the parking lot. For the
majority of the year, morning drop off occurs in dark
or dawn-like conditions. Using one lane may increase
the drop off time required and length of the line, but
the benefits to student safety are well worth any
minor inconvenience this may cause. The parking lot
will be used only for parents to park their vehicles
and walk in with their student(s) to school.

Students in Alaska appear to be far more acclimated
to cold weather than those not from Alaska; however,
basic winter weather gear is still required. Here are
the minimum requirements for gear when
temperature is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit:
 Coat or covering that is in addition to regular
clothing that covers arms
 Hat or hood
Ideally, students should also have gloves/mittens,
boots, and snow pants. If students do not have the
minimum gear they will be asked to call home. Thank
you in advance for making sure that your student has
the necessary gear. As always, if the appropriate
gear is a financial hardship please contact me and I
will work to make provisions.
I am looking forward to a wonderful second half of the
year!

Breakfast is Important! Please send your child to school with a healthy breakfast. It's hard to make a good breakfast when morning routines are so hectic, but it's so important. Studies show that children who eat breakfast have better concentration during the school day than their peers, and they also do better on tests. Rather than sugary cereals, quick healthy alternatives are easy to plan for, and will not cause “mid‐
morning crash” much like coffee/donuts for adults. ‐
