PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Grades K-1 are only required to change their shoes but they should come to school on PE days dressed in suitable clothing to
ensure freedom of movement. For safety reasons, children will be asked to take off their jewellery; therefore, it would be helpful
to the Department if jewellery is not worn to school on a PE day. If your child has pierced ears they should wear stud earrings.
The P.E. staff are not held responsible for removing earrings but will provide micro tape to cover the earrings if they feel they are
unsafe. Footwear for this age group should be slip-on plimsolls or sports shoes, which children can change into independently.
Good quality plimsolls can be purchased from John Lewis for approximately £6.
Grades 2-5 change their clothes for PE class. The following list is ideal for all activities:
2 ISA T-shirts (order details listed below) – Compulsory
Swimming Costume/Shorts
PE Shorts (not cut-off jeans)
Swimming Goggles
Sports socks
Sweatshirt for outdoor P.E. lessons
Jogging trousers/sweatpants
Shoes - One pair (non-marking) sports trainers suitable for indoor and outdoor sports with good support and grip.
Please make sure for ALL GRADES that items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
We do our best to ensure the safety of all children during sporting activities. The use of personal protective equipment such as
shin guards and gum shields is highly recommended for field hockey and football. These items can be purchased from most
local sports shops/stores.
Children will be asked to remove all jewellery before participating in their P.E. lesson. It would be helpful if they could refrain from
wearing jewellery on a P.E. day. If your child has pierced ears they should wear stud earrings. The P.E. staff are not held
responsible for removing earrings but will provide micro tape to cover the earrings if they feel they are unsafe.
It is compulsory for all grade 2 to 5 students to wear an ISA Physical Education T-Shirt for their PE lessons. This will help us to
identify whether children are changing properly for their PE classes.
We recommend that two T-Shirts are purchased for your child. The choice of colours will be purple or black, both with the school
logo and name.
The cost of the T-Shirt will be £7.00. Please see separate Elementary PE Order Form on the “Forms” page on the ISA website..
