What’s Going On?
Lake County Housing Authority is continuously working to upgrade our
Public Housing communities. Most recently, Gurnee’s Almond Townhomes
(pictured above and below) received all new siding, new windows, and new
screen doors. We are also working on Millview Manor in Antioch to upgrade those same features.
Empowering the Present, Impacting the Future
3rd Annual Black Tie Gala
June 17th of 2016 was certainly a night to remember! Held at Double Tree by Hilton Mundelein,
this year’s Gala was filled with warm fellowship,
music, dancing, fine cuisine, and inspiration.
Ever true to our motto, “Service Above All Else”,
our Silent Auction raised funds for continuing education and scholarships for our Family Self Sufficiency participants.
Along with LCHA board members and staff, local
elected officials, members of the community, and
participants in our very own Public Housing program were in attendance, contributing to the
event’s fun and success. Residents participated in
a raffle where the winners were given free tickets
to attend.
Public Housing Activities
On March 9th, The Family Self Sufficiency Team hosted and partnered with US Bank in a
Financial Education Workshop. Hosted at the Waukegan Public
Library, the workshop provided tools to increase income, avoid and/or get out of debt,
and maintain financial independence.
On March 21, 2016 many of our residents participated in our
Annual Volunteer
Day. This year, we chose to volunteer for “Feed
My Starving Children” In Libertyville. Volunteers
from the ages of 5 to 75 gave their time and efforts
to pack up over 17,000 meals to distribute to less
fortunate children around the world. Our residents share our values—Service Above ALL else!
We had a great Mother’s
Day
Celebration at Beach Haven Towers May 6,
2016! Thanks to Deputy Arrowood and his
canine Duke of the Lake County Sherriff’s
Dept. for coming out, everyone really
enjoyed meeting them! Our staff thoroughly
enjoyed celebrating these
dedicated mothers.
This
Father’s Day we were pleased to
invite all the fathers out to an exciting, yet relaxing
day of fishing. Those who attended enjoyed the
beautiful, natural ambiance of Chain O Lakes in
Spring Grove, IL. They also enjoyed the warm fellowships with other dads. Participants were able to acquire fishing licenses and take home their catches. It
was a joyous occasion and it gave us great pleasure to
honor men who play such important roles in their
families and community.
Fun with Our Senior Residents
Our friends at Orchard Manor had a
great time “rocking out” to music
from the 1950’s.
Tea Time at John Kuester Manor
was an unforgettable experience.
Everyone wore their fancy hats and
clothing while they enjoyed tea
and cookies on “fine china”. We
look forward to doing this again!
Our pals at Shiloh Towers always enjoy our games of Bingo and their
prizes.
Residents had an amazing trip to the museum!
The trip to Kenosha was well worth it.
Carthage College thoroughly
entertained us with their play interesting
displays, and stories.
