NEWSletter July 2016 Volume 27 Issue 7 The Mission of Faith Child Care, Inc.: “to provide quality Christian child care for families of the Fox Valley community in a nurturing environment that fosters developmentally appropriate growth.” Notes from the Director … JULY 2016 We begin this month with thankful hearts for the many blessings that God has granted to this nation in which we are fortunate to live. A few minutes of watching world news reminds us of the freedoms that we have. Take time during your holiday celebrations to give thanks for all the we enjoy as Americans. In a few weeks, Faith Child Care will celebrate its 27th anniversary. For all those years we have been blessed to help parents in leading their children to know God’s love and forgiveness. While our building has undergone many changes through the years, our mission has remained the same. Thank you to the parents who continue to entrust their children to our care, to the staff who work so hard to provide a quality program and love the children, and to the members of our Board and Faith Lutheran Church for their ongoing support. I hope you can come and celebrate with us on the evening of the July 27th. It seems that summer is flying by quickly, which means that the fall program will be here before we know it. Please let me know if your child’s schedule will be changing after Labor Day so we can accept new children into our program when they call for care. We welcome Joshua and his family to our room. We encourage all parents to bring in family and pet pictures. We are planning to do a special family wall and would like all of our families represented. A reminder to take your child’s blankets and sleepers home at the end of each week to be washed. Please include a jacket or sweater in your child’s cubby for cool summer days. A few of our infants are trying new foods. It is so much fun to watch their expressions as their tongues explore these foods. This is such an important step in their development and we are here to help in any way we can. If you have any questions or concerns, please discuss them with your child’s teachers. God Bless America! “Miss” Pat, “Miss” Heather and “Miss” Carol “God bless our Native land, firm may she ever stand, through storm and night!” “God Bless our Native Land” Verse 1 MOONBEAMS Happy July from the Moonbeams! We have been very busy trying new things in our room, such as, playing in the sand/water table, painting and coloring with different mediums and using our different senses in activities. We plan on doing more water activities, so if you could, please bring a couple of swim diapers and a swimsuit for those hot days! Just a few reminders: Check your child’s cubby for extra clothes. Make sure any medicines go home on Friday. Have a blessed Fourth of July, “Miss” Rachel and Miss Mary H. CATERPILLARS “The earth is filled with your creatures.” Psalm 104:24 The Caterpillars have been busy exploring bus and insects, feet, Father’s day and the colors red, white and blue. We learned the “Ants Go Marching” song, painted with plastic insects and found real insects outside. The Caterpillars had fun having their feet painted which felt squishy and tickled. We danced with maracas and enjoyed walking on sticky contact paper. In the sensory table, we found plastic insects in the sand, played in water with plastic fish and turtles and washed baby dolls with sponges. The Caterpillars played with tools and the tool bench, made oven mitts with our hand prints for Father’s day presents. The last week, we painted red and blue stars, played with blue playdough and had fun with our parachute. Have a safe and wonderful summer, “Miss” Dawn and “Miss” Lynn SAVE THE DATE!!!! Faith Child Care is celebrating 27 years years with a potluck supper and Cake Walk Wednesday, July 27th 5:30 pm 3 GRASSHOPPERS “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1 What a fantastic start of summer! God has given us beautiful weather and plenty of opportunities to play outside and learn from His creation, plants, bugs, dry/wet, soft/hard. This last month we’ve found many strawberries, millipedes, worms, spiders and ants galore. Now we are waiting for the raspberries, and for butterflies to find the milkweed plants. The children had fun sharing about their daddies and using tools and playing sports, as well as this last month, pretending to be animals at the zoo. This month we will celebrate our country’s independence by becoming “Statues of Liberty” and painting with red, white and blue. Other summer fun activities await us this month, such as ocean life, camping fun with napping in our tents. Everyone is eager for water play or park day too! Please remember to give your child opportunities to practice putting on their shoes and shirts whenever possible to build their strength and confidence and make them successful! Ephesians 3:12 “In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence and live in the freedom to serve Christ.” Enjoy the 4th, “Miss” Lana, “Miss” Mary J. and “Miss” Mariah WILLOWS “A happy heart is like good medicine.” Proverbs 17:22 June was a fun and relaxing month! We said good-bye to our friends Landon and Weston as they moved on to new adventures and also to Logan, who gets to stay home for the summer. We welcomed Cooper and “Miss” Ruth to the Willow room. The Willows learned about backyard fun, farm/dairy, Father’s day and sports. The children enjoyed looking for bugs, playing with balls and painting with shaving cream. We were able to enjoy trips to the park and running through the sprinkler. We will continue to enjoy these activities once a week, until the end of summer. Please remember to keep swim suits, towels and water shoes at daycare for sprinkler/water play. We will try to post reminders, the day before, if possible but it could change depending on the weather. Please remember to keep extra clothes at daycare, in case of any bathroom accidents. Have a great month, The Willows, “Miss” Ruth, and “Miss” Joan D. RESULTS FROM THE PENNY WAR!!!!!!!!!! A HUGE THANK YOU to all who participated. The total money raised was $638.53. We have been keeping busy this summer. The summer started with a field trip to see Tom Pease at the Appleton Public Library. The children were very excited to ride the city bus, for some of our friends it was the first time. Now one month later, we are pros! Some of our other trips in June were to SuperBowl, strawberry picking at Cuff Farms, swimming at Mead and Erb Pools and hiking at 1,000 Islands Nature Center. We have also been busy doing some art and craft projects. The Little Grizzlies have learned how to make pony bead animals, painted sun catchers, created masks to wear and made patterns with iron beads. They also have a lot of fun playing board games like Balloon Lagoon, Saucer Scramble and the card game Slamwich. Besides playing games, they love playing in housekeeping and blocks. During the month of July, we will visit Rennes Health Center and bring the residents the sun catchers that we have been making and maybe sing a few songs. We will also be visiting the Appleton Public Library and Mead and Erb Pools. We are looking forward to our visits to Heckrodt Nature Center, Sky Zone and watching the Grizzlies Battle of the Bands performances. God’s Blessings, “Miss” Sarah, Miss Debby and “Miss” Mandy GRIZZLIES Welcome back Grizzlies! We have been blessed with beautiful weather that has allowed us to do many fun things. Some of our favorite field trips included strawberry picking at Cuff Farms, swimming at Mead Pool, and enjoying a delicious cook out at Erb Park. Additionally, we watched the Cardinal Skippers show us their amazing jump-roping talents, made waffles, sausages, and fruit for lunch, and showed our appreciation for the special people in our lives during our Father’s luncheon. The Grizzlies would like to thank everyone who participated in our penny war! We had tons of fun creating friendly competition between each class. Together, we raised $638.53! The Grizzlies were crowned the “penny war winners” with the Sunbeams coming in second. The money raised with be used to create care packages for cancer patients and military members. All remaining money will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Thanks again for everyone’s help! In July, we are looking forward to walking to Tom’s Drive In for ice cream, going to Sky Zone to jump at the trampoline park, and participating in the “Amazing Race” . Also in July we will be delivering our care packages to FVHO and having a bake sale to raise money to buy school supplies for less fortunate children. “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Hebrews 13:16 God’s Blessings, Miss Meagan, “Miss” Tammy and Miss Kim
