Wiblingen Abbey Once a Benedictine monastery, Wiblingen Abbey was founded near Ulm’s city gates in 1093. Between 1714 and 1783, its buildings – aside from the church - were renewed in Late-Baroque style and the results continue to impress visitors to this day. In addition to the St. Martin church which was elevated to a basilica minor by Pope John Paul II, the monastery also counts the Kapitelsaal (Chapter Hall) and the Bibliothekssaal (Library Hall) amongst its highlights.
