The children have returned from a relaxing week off, as have the staff. Everyone is
ready for the busy time leading up to Christmas. We have a number of fun filled
activities taking place over the next two months. Please keep checking the school
website for updates.
P1/2: Literacy Activities
The children in P1 had lots of fun this week thinking
about how many syllables are in words. Activities
included clapping, tapping and beating the number of
syllables in a variety of words using our body parts and
musical instruments. Then the children had to sort
words into the correct hoop depending on whether it had
1, 2 or 3 syllables.
P2 children were learning all about alphabetical order.
They had to see if they could get into alphabetical order
before the timer was up! They worked really well as a
team and … yes they managed to beat the timer (after a
little practice) – phew!
P.3/P.4/P.5: Money, Money, Money!
The children have been working very hard, in their
topic of 'Money' this term. They have been using
coins to make amounts, adding amounts
and calculating change, sorting coins and problem
solving. They have really enjoyed the practical
element of this topic. Please try, when possible, to
let children deal with money in everyday situations.
For example, counting out money for school
dinners, milk money, trips, etc. Encouraging
children to use money in shops when buying items.
We look forward to many more exciting money
lessons this term. It is just a pity at this time of
the year it didn't grow on trees!!!
P6+7: Stop Bulling Posters
Breakfast Club
Super to see so many of you using
our Breakfast Club service. A
healthy breakfast followed by
different activities including board
games, junk art etc
The children are fully supervised
and the total cost is 50p per day.
Healthy Break We would like to
remind all parents that we operate a
Healthy Break Policy. Crisps, sweets and
confectionary are discouraged at break
time in favour of fruit, vegetables, dairy
and bread based snacks.
Remember we are a
Nut Free School.
In P6/7 we have been thinking about the issue of bullying.
As part of our anti-bullying week the class designed posters
to help other children in the school. The posters ranged in
design and super colours.
Each child selected a spot in the school to place their poster
and made sure everyone would be able to read the advice
and learn from the information. Well done to all for such
great ideas and different ways in which we can deal with the
issue of bullying.
Everyone has enjoyed the various activities this week and
have shown their support by wearing an item of blue
clothing.
Whole school attend war memorial serviceThe children from Tobermore Primary School felt very honoured and humbled to be invited to
attend the war memorial for the armistice service. The new memorial in town looks amazing and
is an excellent source of local information. The children attend the service wearing their poppies
and were fully aware of the reasons behind the day and the importance of the minutes silence at
11 o'clock.
www.mychildsart.co.uk-All of the children in Tobermore Primary School have individually
designed their own Christmas pictures. Please take the opportunity to have a look at your child's
