Head Coach, U-20 National Team
General Role
 The assigned person will become the head coach of one of USA Ultimate’s U20 National Teams. Their role will be
to build a successful team, both in terms of results, spirit, and as representatives of the United States ultimate
community. They will also be building a team that is a key component in the development of high performance
players.
Appointment
 The head coach will be selected by a panel made up of members of the USA Ultimate staff as well as members of
the USA Ultimate Coaching Committee.
Requirements
 As a coach the applicant must have demonstrated commitment to strong character and sportsmanship.
 Must have ultimate coaching experience; showing competitive success, exemplifying Spirit of the Game and
building a positive team culture
 Must have the ability and willingness to work with USA Ultimate administration and support USA Ultimate's
mission and goals
 Must have demonstrated the ability to work with youth players
 Experience with international competition
 Must be USAU Level I Certified or be willing to obtain Level I certification prior to the event
 Must have passed (obtain a green light) an NCSI background check
 Must be available to attend the Youth Club Championships in Blaine, Minnesota on August 4-6, 2017
 Must be available to help run & provide input to the YCC Talent Identification Camp in Blaine, Minnesota on
August 4, 2017 (Friday).
 Must be able to attend two tryout camps to be held in October/November 2017 (location TBD)
 Must NOT be coaching a 2017 YCC team or playing on a team at the 2017 US Open
 Must be able to attend a week of training camp prior to WFDF's WJUC (exact dates and location TBD)
 Must be able to attend WFDF's WJUC (August 19-25, 2018 in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada)
 Level II certification highly desired in all head coach applicants
Core Responsibilities
 Coaching, team preparation and performance
 Assisting with the assistant coach selection
 Work cooperatively with the team’s assistant coaching staff, USA Ultimate staff and the medical support staff
 Monitor the performance of assistant coaches
 Liaise with the Team Manager and Medical staff.
 The Head coach has sufficient authority to take measures that are consistent with USA Ultimate policy and
guidance and necessary in relation to coaching-related matters of team selection, preparation and development
of a team environment. Beyond this, the head coach must abide by decisions made by the Team Manager
and/or USA Ultimate staff.
Benefits
 As a head coach you will receive $1,000, divided over a two year period. There is also an additional $150 stipend
for the 2017 Talent ID camp.
 Complimentary USA Ultimate coach-level membership for 2 years.
