Stella and Adam are talking about languages.
Stella: Did you know that there are more than a thousand languages in the world?
Adam: No, I always thought there are only over a few hundreds of them... That is fascinating!
Stella: It sure is. I think we usually think about popular languages, like Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, English...
But also there are so many tribes discovered, and they have their own languages.
Adam: If they all could speak English, it would be so easy to communicate!
Stella: Well, maybe. But their language is a part of their national identity.
Adam: But I heard that some languages are about to die out.
Stella: I think this happens when the population becomes smaller and smaller or is destroyed by war.
Adam: Sounds about right. If there are no people to speak that language, then the language is bound to
die.
