With the eStore parts for Blackbaud NetCommunity, you can create a store within your website that is designed
to solicit sponsors to support your organization’s mission. For example, donors can sponsor individuals to
participate in your organization’s programs. You can also use the eStore to sell merchandise.
Note: The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) requirements do not allow you to store
credit card or cardholder data in your database. To help you comply with PCI DSS, the eStore for Blackbaud
2 CHAPTER 1
NetCommunity no longer stores this information in the database. For information about PCI DSS requirements,
see the Payment Application Data Security Standards Implementation Guide.
On your website, the eStore consists of two web pages: One page displays the eStore to website users, and
another page displays the administration tools to configure and maintain your eStore. On the page for website
users, you place three custom parts: the eStore QuickNav, eStore Categories, and eStore Storefront parts. On
the eStore Administration page, you place the eStore Administration part. Unlike other parts in Blackbaud
NetCommunity, you do not configure the eStore parts on the Edit Part screen. Instead, you create parts and
place them on their web pages. You then go to the eStore Administration page and use the tabs to configure and
maintain your eStore. On the Edit Part screens, you link the web pages to enable links in your eStore.
• The eStore Administration part displays a series of tabs to configure and maintain your eStore. With these
tabs, you can manage inventory, configure basic settings, and view information about your eStore. For more
information, see eStore Administration Part on page 2.
• The eStore Categories part displays links to the categories that you create on the Categories tab of the eStore
Administration page. For more information, see eStore Categories Part on page 3.
• The eStore QuickNav part includes links, a search field, and a shopping cart summary. For more information,
see eStore QuickNav Part on page 4.
• The eStore Storefront part displays information in the eStore, such as items in a category, search results, a
shopping cart, and checkout information. For more information, see eStore Storefront Part on page 5.
eStore Administration Part
With the eStore Administration part, you can configure and maintain your eStore. On eStore Administration
page, a series of 11 tabs appears. Twelve additional tabs under the Inventory and Configuration tabs, and the
bulk of the eStore administration is handled on these tabs. On the Inventory tab, you manage items in your
eStore. On the Configuration tab, you configure settings for the eStore. You also use eStore Administration tabs
to configure the eStore QuickNav, eStore Categories, and eStore Storefront parts. In-line help appears
throughout the tabs to explain fields, checkboxes, and other items.
Note: To access the eStore Administration page, website users must have supervisor rights. To allow users who
are not supervisors to administer the eStore, you can create a role that allows them to act as eStore
administrators but does not provide supervisor rights elsewhere on your website. Name this case-sensitive and
spacing-sensitive role “NCCS Custom Store Admin.”

Create Multiple eStores
You can create multiple eStores for your website. Each instance requires a unique store ID number. You can use 2
or any number from 21 to 29 as the ID. To group the eStore QuickNav, eStore Categories, eStore Storefront, and
eStore Administration parts, use the same store ID number for each part.
When users purchase items from multiple eStore, they must check out multiple times. Each eStore has separate
checkout functionality. We recommend that you design your website to avoid confusion when users access
multiple stores. You may want to include text to explain the multiple stores, such as “Thank for you visiting our
online stores. Please note we have separate stores. In some cases, you may see more than one checkout cart. If
this occurs, you must check out more than once to receive all of your items.”
Multiple stores can also impact eStore statistics. Statistics for each store appear in the statistics area. You may
want to include unique identifiers on products to indicate which store products are purchased from.
} Create multiple eStores
For information about how to create or edit pages and parts, see the Parts Guide.
1. Create two web pages for each additional eStore. One page will contain the eStore Administration part.
