From Lifeway.com – “Turn your kids into Galactic Starveyors! As kids
focus their telescopes on the marvels painted in the sky by the Creator,
they will discover the wonder among all wonders - that the God who
created everything there is - the knowable and the unknowable, the visible
and the invisible - wants a personal relationship with them! Invite your
kids into the clubhouse and show them the God who is over the moon in
love with them.”
In order to make this wonderful experience available for the children in
our community, we need LOTS of help! Help is needed for teaching,
assistants, crafts, snacks, recreation, music, registration, and more! If you
are available to help, sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board or please
see Donna Limparis.

Scripture: James 3:1-12 (NIV)
The Reality of the Tongue:
I. It speaks for ______________.
James 3:1 – Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow
believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more
strictly.
Once you speak on behalf of God, God writes it down.
Matthew 7:10 – For in the same way you judge others, you will be
judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
God places a higher standard, or greater responsibility on the
ones who are teachers.
II. It is __________________.
James 3:2-4 – We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at
fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in
check. When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey
us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example.
Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are
steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.
Your biggest problem is your tongue.
If you want to achieve perfection in your life, it must
first start with the tongue.
Proverbs 6:16-17 - There are six things the Lord hates, seven that
are detestable to him: haughty eyes, lying tongue, ...
If you gain control of the tongue then you can gain control of
everything else.
III. It has __________________.
James 3:5-8 – Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it
makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a
small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts
of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s
life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds,
reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by
mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless
evil, full of deadly poison.
If the tongue could remove itself from the body, it would brag
about its power.
When the tongue speaks inappropriately it can do a
tremendous amount of damage.
The tongue is a bundle of fire that has the power to destroy
everything within its path.
We have failed to tame the tongue because we have not let God
be the tamer.
If you want to make it as a victorious Christian then learn to
control your tongue.
IV. It is two _________________.
James 3:9-10 – With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and
with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s
likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My
brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt
water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig
tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring
produce fresh water.
At times, the tongue praises God and in the next breath it
curses other.
Matthew 12:34 – ... For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth
speaks.
We need to confess our tongue to God.

Dive Deeper Bible Study
On May 21 at 1 pm, I will be leading our Dive
Deeper Bible Study. The topic is entitled, “Are
Biblical Laws Still Relevant Today?” We will take
a close look at Old Testament and New Testament
laws that are found in the Bible. As we do this
examination, we will ask ourselves a very important question. Why
don’t we today, uphold the laws that are portrayed in Scripture? Do we
have a right to excluded certain laws and add additional laws that are
not contained in Scripture? Therefore, I want to invite you to join us
for this intriguing study.
Frederick Keys Game
