This year’s event kicked off with a 3 hour campaign on May 23rd from 6pm – 9pm EST where law enforcement from South Florida to the Canadian border participated. Local law enforcement will be cracking down on impaired driving through education, enforcement, and saturation patrols, as well as check points all over Florida. Your Family Is Waiting For You – A high school student in Washington found that 10 percent of the students driving to school were not wearing a seat belt. She decided to tackle this issue through the development of a year-long safe driving campaign. One project was a three-week-long seat belt campaign called, “Buckle Up: Your Family is Waiting for You!” The campaign resulted in increased seat belt use among fellowstudents and, by the end, 96 percent were arriving to school protected by seat belts.
