NEW YORK YANKEES Checkers Game Instructions NEW YORK YANKEES Sticker Sheet Instructions ™ Number of Players: 2 Ages: 6 and up Contents: 24 checkers, 8 king pieces, 1 game board, 1 sticker sheet Set Up: Players have 12 pieces, which they each place on the dark squares of the first three rows on their side of the board. One player’s pieces are red and the other’s are white. Moving: Before a game starts, players flip a coin or otherwise randomly decide who gets the red pieces, which always move first. Each checker can move forward on a diagonal, one space at a time. Once you lift your finger from the piece, the move is final. Jumping: Pieces can jump opponent’s pieces diagonally in a forward direction as long as there is an empty space to land on. This will capture the opponent’s piece (removing it from the board). A player must jump if the opportunity presents itself. Players can make multiple jumps if possible, and the piece can change direction between jumps (although only kings can move backward). ™ Checker Stickers: The sticker sheet includes 24 logo stickers and 8 cap stickers. The logo stickers should be placed centered within the smooth side of the checker. Pieces move diagonally red checker white checker A player can jump multiple times in different directions Baseball Cap Stickers: The cap stickers should be placed centered on the front of the baseball cap. King: When a piece reaches the base path on the opposite side of the board from where it started, it becomes a “king”. The player flips over their checker and locks a Yankees™ cap into place. Kings can move one space diagonally both forward and backward. Winner: A game of checkers ends when one player captures all of the opponent’s pieces. In a case where neither player can capture the opponent’s pieces, the game ends in a draw. MASTERPIECES/ MLBP TM/© MLBP 2014
