KMVT 15, the local non-profit 501(c)(3) award winning community media center, has been providing training, education and equipment to the residents of Mountain View since 1982. Today, KMVT 15 provides those same services to Los Altos, Cupertino, Sunnyvale and Foster City. KMVT 15 continues to be a much needed service and resource, linking the community to the latest technologies of communication. In the past year we have covered over 100 sports events ranging from Football, Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Softball, Water polo, Volleyball and more within Cupertino, Mountain View and Los Altos. This program was created for middle school students looking to learn more about video production. They are taught the basics of shooting, directing, audio, editing and color commentary. They shot football, soccer, track, art performances, graduations and The Project Cornerstone awards show where the students personally interviewed Steve Young of the 49ers. Folks of all ages with little to no technology experience would have the opportunity to come and learn in a collaborative & cooperative environment. The idea is to increase digital access understanding while learning basic computer skills on laptops so that individuals would have equal access to tools they may not get anywhere else. Participants would learn how to create resumes and video resumes, and receive media literacy and social media training. It is essential for all individuals to be able to have the access and the understanding of the most basic technology tools that are used today to communicate and distribute content. We see the program as an opportunity to support the bridging of the digital divide by providing our youth access to learning tools for school, adults an opportunity to keep up with technology and seniors the opportunity to still feel connected. Classes would be taught in English and Spanish. Program to begin November 2013 - Annual cost of $35, 000 which includes overhead and two instructors and will be donation driven as well. Silicon Valley Nonprofit Presents: This is a program that has been recently developed that would allow a sponsor to support highlighting nonprofits within Silicon Valley. Each nonprofit is allowed 15minutes to tell their story and their importance to the community. The video would be highlighted on our channels of distribution as well as can be used on any of their distribution resources. New program will launch in early 2014- Annual cost of $20,000 Channel Sponsor: This is a new opportunity to us. KMVT15’s new playback system provides us an opportunity to be able to distribute content on multiple platforms. The first roll out will be Pegmedia.org on Roku as well as a dedicated KMVT Roku channel that can be branded with a “brought you by/or presented by banner”. Distribution on Roku allows us to reach a newer audience nationwide that is streaming content. (fyi.. our current youtube channel by itself has over 1.5mil. views).
