Packo milk cooling tanks with ice water cooling
This unique cooling system was designed by Packo and is the fastest way
to cool down the milk and to maintain its quality. For 50 years Packo
develops and finetunes this technology of "indirect cooling".
Milk cooling with ice water results in a time saving of 50% in comparison
with the conventional direct cooling.
Using instant cooling, the milk enters almost cooled in the milk cooling
tank, so the quality of the milk is optimally maintained. Due to the good
mixing of ice and water, a homogeneous mixture of ice water is achieved
with a stable temperature of 0.5 ° C.
Since this temperature is situated above the freezing point, there is never
a risk of freezing the milk. Even when only small quantities of milk have
to be cooled or at varying loads, eg. robotic milking, or if one buys a milk
cooling tank for future expansion.
Thanks to the storage of energy during several hours, smaller cooling
units can be used.
The ice water may be produced before the milking, e.g. at night, so that
there is no electric peak load during milking. Cheaper night rates make
the installation as a more favorable system.
