Cast Biographies
(in alphabetical order)
Julie Banach (Suzanne) is a senior from Colchester working toward a degree in Theatre Arts
with a concentration in Technical Theatre and Design. Previous credits include Maggie in A Chorus Line, Millie in Picnic, and Simon in Jesus Christ Superstar. Julie plans to pursue a career in
either acting or technical theatre.
Austyn Bevins (Picasso) is a junior from Colchester working toward a degree in Theatre Arts
with an emphasis in Acting/Directing and a minor in Music. Previous roles include Mike in A
Chorus Line, Hal in Picnic, and as part of the ensemble in Jesus Christ Superstar. Austyn has
enjoyed working with the cast and crew and looks forward to future shows.
Matthew R. Couture (Sagot) is a junior from Fair Haven working toward a degree in Psychology
with minors in Theatre Arts and Statistics. Although a late addition to the cast, Matt is very excited
to be working on his first show at Castleton. He has appeared in a number of productions in high
school, including Canned Hamlet, Once Upon a Mattress, and Nightfall with Edgar Allen Poe.
Andrew Donovan (Einstein) is a senior from Wilmington, Massachusetts, working toward a
degree in History with minors in Theatre Arts and Sociology. Previous credits include roles in
Picnic, Jesus Christ Superstar, Reckless, Fiddler on the Roof, and You Can’t Take It With You.
Andrew would like to thank all of his friends and family for their continued support.
Joseph Laston (A Visitor) is a senior from Williamstown working toward a degree in Theatre
Arts with an emphasis in Acting/Directing. He has recently appeared in The Misanthrope, The
Cripple of Innishman, and Jesus Christ Superstar. Joe is happy to be returning for another production at Castleton.
Christine Newberg (A female admirer) is a junior from Granby, Connecticut, working toward a
degree in Theatre Arts and Elementary Education. Christine worked behind the scenes in Picnic,
The Cripple of Inishmaan, and Jesus Christ Superstar. She is thankful to be working with such
wonderful people!
Julianne O’Connor (Germaine) is a senior from Boston working toward a degree in Theatre
Arts with an emphasis in Acting/Directing. This is her seventh show at Castleton. This past year,
Julianne portrayed the character of Rosemary in Picnic, and the tone deaf Kristine in A Chorus
Line. She is extremely grateful to be a part of this wonderful show and to be portraying such a
strong female character. To her family and friends - thank you for everything!
Louis Riquelme (Schmendiman/Scene Shop Supervisor/Master Carpenter and Electrician)
is a senior from Middlebury working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with a concentration in
Technical Theatre and Design. Past Castleton credits include Lighting Design for A Chorus Line
and Scenic Design for Jesus Christ Superstar and Picnic. This is Louis’ first time appearing on
stage, and he is thrilled with the opportunity!
Robynn Stanley (The Countess) is a senior from Middlebury working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Acting/Directing and a minor in Communications. Her past Castleton credits include Helen in The Cripple of Inishmaan, Irma in Picnic, and an Apostle in Jesus
Christ Superstar. Robynn would like to thank her amazing mother for everything.
Robert Valenti (Gaston) is a sophomore from Fairlee working toward a degree in Music with
a minor in Theatre Arts. As another late addition to the cast, Robert is extremely excited for his
first Castleton production. He does have experience as a performer in Castleton’s Marching Band
as well as the Jazz Combo. He performed in Damn Yankees in high school. Robert would like to
thank the cast and crew for welcoming him to the department.
Benjamin Villa (Freddy) is a sophomore from Williamstown working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Acting/Directing and a minor in Philosophy. Previous credits
include work on Zoo Story at Castleton, and roles in Arsenic and Old Lace and Fiddler on the
Roof at his high school. Ben would like to thank his Mum and Pando for their support.
Sachi (Madame Curie) whose name means “happiness” in Japanese, is a-19-month old Chihuahua/toy poodle mix who lives in Wells. This is her debut performance and she is very excited
to be part of this talented cast. Although her future career in show business is very promising,
Sachi is also considering becoming a therapy dog, which requires lots of holding and petting by
hospital patients.
Artistic Staff and Crew Biographies
(in alphabetical order)
Kelly Allen (Costumes Running Crew) is a junior transfer student working toward a double
major in Business Management and Theatre Arts. Kelly has been involved with theatre, primarily
as an actor, since the age of eleven. She has also been involved behind the scenes as a technician
and in the pit band. Her most recent role was Mrs. Lyons in Blood Brothers.
Julie Asta-Ferrero (Electrics Crew) is a junior working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with
an emphasis in Acting Director and a Music minor. This is Julie’s first opportunity to work on
the lighting crew. Previously she appeared in Picnic and Jesus Christ Superstar. She would like
to thank all of cast, crew, and staff for their constant support. Julie would also like to thank her
friends and family back home.
David Altobell (Stage Manager) is a senior from Rutland working toward a degree in Theatre
Arts with an emphasis in Technical Theatre and Design and a minor in Communications. This is
David’s first opportunity to serve as Stage Manager. He served as Assistant Stage Manager for A
Chorus Line, The Cripple of Inishmaan, and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Christopher Belanger (Electrics Crew/Running Crew/Mimes) is a freshman from Lewiston,
Maine working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Technical Theatre and
Design. Christopher has previous experience both on and off stage. He performed in shows at
his high school, as well as working with lighting and running crew on shows such as Peter Pan,
Jeckyll and Hyde, and Once on this Island.
Angela Brande (Costume Designer) is a faculty member in the Theatre Arts Department. She
teaches costume design and stage make-up here at Castleton. She has also designed for several
professional theatres in Vermont including Dorset Theatre Festival, Middlebury Actors Workshop, and Vermont Stage Company.
Jeremiah Brooks (Light Board Operator/Set Construction) is a sophomore working toward
degrees in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Technical Theatre and Design and Computer Information Systems. Jeremiah recently served as sound assistant for Castleton’s production of A Chorus
Line. He has also worked for Mill River Union High School’s Stage 40 theater company.
Jacob Colby (Electrics Crew) is a junior from Lydonville working toward a degree in Theatre
Arts with an emphasis in Technical Theatre and Design and a minor in Film Studies. Jake’s previous credits at Castleton include working on the Electrics Crew for A Chorus Line. He would like
to thank his parents for all of their support.
Stephanie Deyette (Running Crew/Mimes) is a freshman from Braintree working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Technical Theatre and Design. Past credits include serving
as lighting designer for The Man Who Came to Dinner, Rabbit Hole, and Arsenic and Old Lace.
Sarah Cresitello-Ditmar (Assistant Stage Manager) is a junior from Brentwood, New Hampshire working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Technical Theatre and Design.
Past Castleton credits include Connie in A Chorus Line, as well as in the ensemble for Jesus
Christ Superstar.
Anna Gross (Production Manager) is a faculty member in the Theatre Arts Department. She
holds an M.A. in Theatre History from the University of South Carolina. She has served as the
department’s Dramaturg and Production Manager for the past three seasons.
Steven Gross (Technical Director/Scenic and Lighting Designer) is the head of Technical
Theatre and Design for the Theatre Arts Department at Castleton. Mr. Gross holds a bachelor’s
degree from the University of North Alabama and an MFA in scene design from the University
of South Carolina. He has been teaching theatre at Castleton since 2007. Previous design work
at Castleton includes: The Cripple of Inishmann, Reckless, Bus Stop, Fiddler On The Roof, You
Can’t Take It With You, Philadelphia! Here I Come, Minnesota Moon, Once On This Island, and
Lost In Yonkers.
Cody Gullicksen (Electrics Crew/Mime) is a freshman from Lake Placid, New York working
toward a degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Technical Theatre and Design. Past credits
include lighting technician for The Never-ending Story, sound board operator for Across the Universe, and recording engineer for recording artist Michael McDonald.
Meghan Hakey (Props Assistant/Mime) is a sophomore from North Stratford, New Hampshrie
working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Acting/Directing. Previous experience at Castleton includes an ensemble role in A Chorus Line, Props Master for the directing
class projects, and Props Master for The Misanthrope. Meghan would like to thank her family,
and everyone who has helped her in her pursuit of theatre!
Grace Herzog (Costume Construction) is a junior from Montgomery working toward a degree
in Theatre Arts with and emphasis in Technical Theatre and Design and a minor in History. Previously she has worked on the costume construction crew for A Chorus Line, Picnic, and Jesus
Christ Superstar.
Nicole Irwin (Running Crew/Mime) is a freshman at Castleton. This is her first production with
the Castleton Theatre Arts department, although she has worked on a number of shows at her
high school including Grease, Clue, and The Producers.
Staci Jedlick (Hair and Make-up/Running Crew/Mime) is as sophomore from Poultney
working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with and emphasis in Acting and Directing and a minor
in English. Previous credits include Connie in A Chorus Line, in the ensemble for Jesus Christ
Superstar, as well as assisting with props for The Cripple of Inishmaan.
Sarah LaFleche (Set Construction/Electrics Crew) is a freshman from Castleton working toward degrees in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Technical Theatre and Design and History. Past
work includes performances at Stafford and Rutland High School.
John Lucas (Electrics Crew) is a junior from Essex working toward a degree in Theatre Arts
with an emphasis in Technical Theatre and Design. Past credits include light board operator for
Bus Stop and Picnic, and master electrician for The Cripple of Innishmaan.
Harry McEnerny IV (Director) is Professor of Theatre Arts at Castleton, and the recent recipient of the Vermont State Colleges Faculty Fellow award. He has directed over twenty-five Castleton productions including Guys and Dolls, The Beauty Queen of Leenane, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Boys Next Door, HAIR, Cabaret, Orpheus Descending, Man of La Mancha, Big
Love, Once on this Island, Reckless, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Cripple of Inishmaan, and most
recently, A Chorus Line. He is also a founding member of the Middlebury Actor’s Workshop.
Mike Mitrano (Sound Board Operator/Set Construction) is a sophomore from Brandon
working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Technical Theatre and Design and
a Music minor. Previous credits include set contruction for A Chorus Line, light board operator
for The Cripple of Inishmaan and sound board operator for Picnic. Currently he is serving as the
Technical Director and Light Board Operator for Middlebury Actor’s Workshop’s production of
Of Mice and Men.
Hayley Ryan (Hair and Make-up/Running Crew/Mime) is a freshman working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Acting/Directing. Previous credits include Peggy in
Father of the Bride, Susan in Once in a Lifetime, and Margaret in Dracula.
Megan Sargent (Costumes Running Crew) is a freshman from Fairlee working toward a degree in Secondary Education and a minor in Music. Past credits include Damn Yankees!, The Pink
Panther, and O Brother Where Art Thou?
Amberly Soto (Props Master) is a junior working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with an
emphasis in Technical Theatre and Design. This is her sixth show at Castleton. Amberly has also
worked with Encore Theatre at Rutland High School, Actor’s Repertory Theatre, and the Rutland
Youth Theatre.
Loren Spencer (Assistant Stage Manager) is a sophomore from West Berlin working toward
a degree in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Technical Theater and Design. This is Loren’s
second production at Castleton, although she has been involved in theater since 2003 both as a
performer and technician. She currently serves on the Technical Services crew at Castleton. Loren recently served as stage manager for Hello, Dolly! at the Chandler Music Hall. She thanks her
friends and family for their continued support, especially her grandparents visiting from Texas.
Michael Tuffy (Running Crew/Mime) is a freshman working toward a degree in Theatre Arts.
He has previous experience with the Barrington Stage Company and the Minerva Arts Center,
working on All Shook Up, Into the Woods, and Godspell.
Jennifer Usher (Costume Shop Supervisor) is a 1993 graduate of the Castleton Theatre Arts
program. She is happy to be back in a new capacity; serving as Costume Shop Supervisor. Recent
credits are costume designer for The Cripple of Inishmaan and Jesus Christ Superstar.
TJ VanLiew (Set Construction Crew/Electrics Crew) is a sophomore from Montgomery, New
Jersey, working toward a degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Technical Theatre and
Design. Previous Castleton credits include a video projection and set construction for A Chorus
Line, as well as set construction for Picnic and The Cripple of Inishmaan. TJ is excited to be
involved in this production and looks forward to future shows at Castleton.
