Information for patients and visitors
Introduction
Why am I having this test?
This fact sheet has been produced to provide
information for people who need semen
analysis. In addition, the leaflet explains how
to make an appointment and the collection
and delivery requirements for semen
samples. Contact details and opening times
for the laboratories are also included.
Approximately 1 in 6 couples have difficulty
in conceiving. Fertility investigations are
carried out for both partners in order to give
us as much information as possible. Male
fertility may change due to age, illness or a
change in lifestyle so even if you have
previously fathered children it is still
important to have this assessment.
Benefits
The benefit of doing this test is that it will
provide your doctor with important results
which will help with diagnosis and / or
treatment.
