Mass Transit: To attend the Metro Gathering in NJ From New York City or Newark: Take the PATH train to Newark, or NJ Transit trains, but you will also need to take buses or taxis when arriving in NJ. All trains will go through Newark Penn Station. PATH ‐ Take PATH Trains towards Newark. Fare is $2.75 each way, and can be paid using NYC Transit regular fare Metrocards. Follow train/bus directions from here: Trains/Busses: You may take NJ Transit trains directly from NY Penn Station, Newark Penn Station or Newark Airport station. If you are taking a PATH train, transfer at Newark Penn Station to NJ Transit Train. This is a separate fare from PATH trains. Trains ‐ Fares on the train depend on the starting station, and not all stations will have ticket booths available. To avoid paying a surcharge for buying a ticket on the train, please have a ticket when you get on the train. Please make sure the trains stop at the indicated stations – some trains may be express, and may not stop at your desired station. Trains coming from NYC/Newark or from NJ points south can both take the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor (red line train) or the NJ Coast Line (blue line). If you are going to be taking a bus afterward, MEtroGAthering recommends taking the train to the Elizabeth train station. If you are going to take a taxi, MEtroGAthering recommends going to the Linden train station. Taxis are available at both Elizabeth and Linden, but are not metered and will cost at least $10 each way. Bus‐ If arriving at the Elizabeth train station, exit the platform and wait at Broad St & Jersey St. (near GC28QQP) for NJ Transit Bus #48 towards Woodbridge Mall. The stop you want will be at St. George Ave & Park Avenue in Roselle NJ. Fare is $1.50. You can also take the #57 Bus towards Linden/Elizabeth, however, it is more of a walk – at least a mile to the registration table (but there is at least one cache along the way). The stop would be at Elizabeth Ave & Park Ave in Linden. If you would prefer to bus it the whole way from Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC, you can take express bus #115. It leaves a few times on Saturdays from Gate 222. Fare is $9.00 each way, and will drop you right at St. Georges Ave. and Park Ave. in Roselle NJ in a little less than an hour. Departures from Port Authority: 7am, 8:30am, 10am, 11:30am, 1pm, 2:30pm, 4pm. Departures from Roselle: (approximate) 1:15pm, 2:45pm, 4:15pm, 6:15pm, 7:50pm, 9:15pm, 10:45pm TAXI – Use this address if taking a taxi: 1932 E. St. Georges Ave, Linden NJ 07036. You can take one from NYC, but it will cost you at least $70, plus any tolls. o
Newark Penn Station (will be at least $25) and cannot be guaranteed to bring you to the park. They may also have you pay for any tolls you may incur. o
Newark Airport (will also be at least $25). They may also charge you for any tolls if taking the turnpike. o
Elizabeth Train Station (will be at least $10). They may know where Warinanco Park is. o
Linden Train Station (will be at least $10). They will know where Warinanco Park is. It is also technically the closest station.
