Wichita falls ISD 5th Grade Science Unit Planner Unit 11: Inherited Traits and Learned Behavior Lesson 2: Structures and Functions Time Frame: 2-3 days Objectives The student knows that organisms undergo similar life processes and have structures that help them survive within their environments. • The students will be able to compare differentiate between inherited traits and learned behaviors of plants and animals. • The student will learn that inherited characteristics are things such as hair color, the shape of a beak, and spines on a cactus. • The students will know that learned characteristics can include behaviors such as a child riding a bicycle or animals learning tricks. They also can include physical characteristics such as a scar.
