Consumer Protection Information
There are some monument/memorial dealers who, shortly after burial, contact the family
and claim to represent the cemetery or the funeral home. These persons will often attempt
to sell a monument to a family, receive payment, and fail to deliver, or suggest that there are
certain requirements for monumentation and that monuments must be placed within a
certain period of time. There are no such regulations requiring you to erect a monument or
inscribe an existing one.
Our funeral home will not release telephone numbers or addresses, nor do we authorize the use
of our name in connection with the sale of any monuments/memorials.

Services included, but not limited to: (1) responding to the initial request for service;
(2) conducting the arrangement conference; (3) preparation of biographical and
statistical data; (4) examination of financial settlement options; (5) preparation and
filing of papers, permits and authorizations; (6) coordination with those providing
other services; (7) preparation and placement of obituary notices; (8) retention
and care of remains prior to commencement of post-death activities; (9) overhead
expenses relative to our facility and operations, such as occupancy, administrative
and equipment costs.
This fee for our basic services will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements
you select. (This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremations, immediate
burials, and forwarding or receiving remains.)
ADDITIONAL EXPENSES
Arranging the funeral ceremony and committal often requires the funeral
home to pay others on your behalf. We do not charge for this service. An example
of the people who may expect payment in advance include the cemetery, church/
synagogue or clergy. Often the timing of the funeral arrangements—hour, date, or
holidays—may make it necessary for us to estimate what advances you want us to
make on your behalf.
This list does not include prices for certain items that you may ask us to buy for you,
such as cemetery or crematory services, flowers and newspaper notices. The prices for
those items will be shown on your bill or the statement describing the funeral goods
and services you selected.

be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral
with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose
an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or
immediate burial. If you choose to have an embalming performed, the decedent may
be embalmed at a location other than this registered mortuary.
No human remains may remain unburied or uncremated in New Jersey for more than
48 hours unless embalmed or refrigerated. (N.J.A.C. 8:9-1.1)

Celebrant Services
For some people, traditional
funeral ceremonies fail to reflect
the personal uniqueness of the
participants, or express the depth
and universality of meaning they
seek. Our firm offers “Celebrant
Services.” Certified Celebrants
offer an alternative to a service
traditionally provided by
ordained clergy for those who are
not affiliated with a church or who do not
wish to have a religious funeral service. This service can make the difference between
a funeral and a celebration of your loved one’s unique life.
Our Celebrants enjoy speaking with family members as they remember the deceased
and the life they lived. They transform those memories into a meaningful service, and
use their skills to share the story of your loved one’s life with those who have come to
pay their respects and remember.
Our Celebrants have been specifically trained and certified to design a service that is
completely personal, and as unique as your loved one. And through the availability of
a wide library of resources for readings, music and other special ceremonies they can
help your family design a service that honors the life of the deceased.
Our Celebrants will schedule a convenient time to meet with your family and listed
to memories and stories from your life with the deceased. The essence of the service
will reflect these remembrances.
Our Celebrant will work directly with your funeral director on the arrangements and
elements of the service and is dedicated to the concept of providing a tribute that
reflects the lifestyle and beliefs of your individual family.
Our selection room.
It is the policy of John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Inc. to hold clothing and personal
effects, including sheets, towels, blankets, stuffed animals and pillows, on the funeral
home premises for a period not to exceed 7 days from the date of final disposition.
All soiled or damaged articles will be disposed of at the discretion of the employees
of the funeral home.

In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy a container to surround
the casket in the grave. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that
the grave will not sink in. Either a grave liner or a burial vault will satisfy these requirements.

OUTER BURIAL CONTAINER PRICE LIST (VAULTS)
In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy a container to surround
the casket in the grave. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that
the grave will not sink in. Either a grave liner or a burial vault will satisfy these requirements.

(2) conducting the arrangement conference; (3) preparation of biographical and
statistical data; (4) examination of financial settlement options; (5) preparation and
filing of papers, permits and authorizations; (6) coordination with those providing

and care of remains prior to commencement of post-death activities; (9) overhead

Embalming

Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may
be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral

an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or
immediate burial. If you choose to have an embalming performed, the decedent may
be embalmed at a location other than this registered mortuary.
No human remains may remain unburied or uncremated in New Jersey for more than
48 hours unless embalmed or refrigerated. (N.J.A.C. 8:9-1.1)
