• The fuel is glucose
• The product is ATP
How do we get our energy from food?
• Aerobic = requires oxygen (O2)
Carbon dioxide is given off (CO2)
• Anaerobic = requires NO oxygen
• Cellular Respiration is the combustion or burning of glucose.
• Each glucose molecule gives about 38 ATP • Happens in both plant and animal cells.
• Purpose = make a useable form of energy (ATP)
