Location Codes?

Sri Lanka Country Portal is the primary delivery
channel for electronic information and services.
Simply type srilanka.lk or www.lk to login to the
Country portal
This has tri-lingual support (Sinhala, Tamil and
English)
Click on the desired language button appeared
in the welcome page to proceed.
Step-1: Register and Log in to
Country Portal
New user: First get a user account
created using a valid email address.
● Already registered user: Log-in using the
user-name (email address) and password.

Step-2: Adding the required service
to 'My Space'
First click the 'Add Services' button
(if you can't see the 'Add Services' button,
please click the 'My Space' link.

Then click the 'Government Services' link.
You can either click the 'Add' link beside the
'Sri Lanka Location Codes' text, or drag and
drop the service to the 'My Space'.

This will be added to your space as a
service portlet.

Step-3: What is 'Location Code'?
●

The Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs
has devised a separate coding mechanism to
distinguish any Province, District, Divisional
Secretariat, Grama Niladhari Division or a Village in
Sri Lanka.
In this coding system, each Province, District,
Divisional Secretariat, Grama Niladhari Division or a
Village is represented by a separate code and the
“Location Code” is simply the contamination of all the
codes separated by “-” up to that hierarchy.
Format: x-x-xx-xxx-x
Step-4: Selecting the location
details
User can start with selecting
relevant province from the
drop-down list. Then the next
drop-down list populates.

Drop-down lists should be
selected in order.
●
Select drop-down lists
up-to the hierarchy (Province,
District, Divisional Secretariat,
Grama Niladhari Division,
Village).
●
The table shows the
respective codes.
●
Step-5: Viewing location codes
This table will show the
relevant location code.

Step-6: Any problem ?
●
Call '1919' and inform the problem.
