Early Dismissal days Tuesday February 28th and Wednesday, February 29th 2012 It is most important to let us know when your child will be away. 0de . Thank-you to all the students that participated in the Elementary Curling League. On February 11th they participated in a curling bonspiel. The teams played 3 or 4 games through out the day and ended the day with awards and a potluck supper. This year I noticed that many games had lots of rocks in play which shows that the teams have really worked hard all season to get their weight just right and really understand the curl of the ice. More rocks in play means harder shots and lots of strategy. It is exciting to watch the students develop their skills over the season and really come together as team. I would like to wish the curlers moving on to the junior league all the best; I will be watching for you at the curling rink. For those students that are interested in curling next year remember we always need volunteer coaches so start bugging your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or family friends!! A special thanks to all the coaches for giving up your time and mentoring our students - Jacob Leoppky, Mr. Strandquist, Mr. & Mrs. Neufeld. This input will be used as part of the Board's decision-making process in the development of a Proposed Local Calendar. The timeline for this process is as follows: • January 25 to March 6 - Input from staff members, SPCs, PACs, DPAC, employee groups, etc. This information will be gathered through school principals and location managers. • March 7 - Board reviews feedback from all groups. • March 7 - The Board adopts the 2012/2013 Local Calendar. In order to help people with calendar decisions and proposals, The Ministry of Education's Standard Calendar for 2012/2013 has been included. In addition, three alternate calendars are being circulated for consultation. Visit the school district web site to view all 4 proposed calendars. Please take the time to fill out the feedback survey. If you have any other concerns or comments see Mr. Harman and he will take your information forward to the Board. http://www.sd59.bc.ca/ Proposed Calendars Feedback Survey School Photos Are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month in our library @ 7:00 pm ALL parents are welcome. And can make someone happy when they are mad. and it’s the only thing you keep when you give it away. At the last PAC meeting, the parents there asked about changing companies that provide the individual, class, and school photos. If you think the school should explore using another company, please let the office know. It would be helpful to know what you would like to see in a package. (ie: choice of photos, ability to touch up, etc.). You can view two companies that service the area at the following websites: Mountain West Studios: http://www.mountainwest.ca/services/schoolphotography/elementary-school-photography Lifetouch Excerpts from poem BY © Heather Black http://www.lifetouch.ca/school-pictures
