Winter Classes
The first of our winter classes will be February 21
and will focus on hardy, low maintenance roses for
Iowa gardens. Everyone is familiar with the Knock
Out rose family which is presently the #1 selling rose
in the U.S. Due to their popularity roses are back “in
vogue” as gardeners are wanting to expand their
plantings with colors and forms not found in the
Knock Out family. There are so many excellent
choices that are actually as good (or dare I say better)
than Knock Outs and I’m excited to share those with
you!

Geranium ‘Biokovo’ is the Perennial Plant Association’s pick for 2015. Anyone who has grown this
wonderful perennial can appreciate the spicy foliage
fragrance, long bloom time and red fall foliage.
Hardy to zone 4 it’s a wonderful front of the border
plant with a mature height of 10–12” and a spread of
2–3 feet. ‘Biokovo’ grows quickly and makes an impressive ground cover pairing nicely with roses and
clematis. It will grow best with morning sun and at
least partial shade in the afternoon. A low maintenance plant that is also deer resistant! This should be
a popular plant this spring; pre-ordering assures that
we'll have plenty on hand!
