ESSEX COUNTY EXECUTIVE DIVINCENZO RECOGNIZES EMPLOYEES
DURING COUNTY’S MARCH TEAMWORK AWARD PROGRAM
Newark, NJ – Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. presented the monthly Essex County Teamwork
Awards to three Essex County employees and a student from the Essex County Vocational Technical School
District. Teamwork Awards recognize employees for their hard work, dedication and willingness to provide quality
service and highlights the achievements of students attending the County’s Vocational Schools.
Ebenezer Ankrah is a senior at the West Caldwell Tech Campus of the Essex County Vocational School System.
He has an impeccable academic track record; having been on the honor roll for four years, excellent attendance
and a willingness to help his peers succeed. In addition to his academic pursuits, Ebenezer is actively involved in
football and organizing activities for the senior class. Ebenezer has received acceptance letters from every school
he applied to, but he has decided to attend his first choice, Rutgers University, where he will major in Mechanical
Engineering.
Lauren Shears joined the Essex County Executive’s Office of Public Information in 2006 as a Public Information
Officer. She immediately became known as ‘Techno” because of her technological knowledge. In addition to her
technical contributions, Lauren writes press releases, sets up for press conferences, takes photos, works on the
“Inside Essex County” television show and much more. All this aptitude and ability was on exhibit in February, as
the “State of the County” presentation hit the screen. Every slide, every computer move was Lauren’s and after
she designed it all, she had to pace the program to the County Executive’s speech pattern. She succeeded
beyond any and all expectation and the standing ovation at the end of the Address was as much for her work as it
was for the speaker. She is a vital member of the Executive’s team.
Robert DeMarino joined the Essex County Department of Citizen Services, Division of Welfare in 1977, however,
for the past six months Robert has been the Administrative Supervisor for the Office of Intake Services. During
this time he has shown his resourcefulness by reorganizing the Outreach Unit (Mobile Office) and the processing
of on-line applications. He also revised the assignment of applications, which eliminated the accumulated back
logs. He has shown, in a short period of time as an Administrator, that he is an example of an exceptional
Administrative Supervisor.
Glenn Andrews joined the Essex County Department of Parks 11 years ago. He spent eight years maintaining
Essex County Branch Brook Park and was then assigned to the Business Office, where, due to his great computer
skills, he has been a wonderful addition. Always willing to accept new challenges and improve his skills, Glenn
took night classes at The Chubb Institute, where he was one of the 4 top graduates. In addition, he is an
Associate Minister at Second Baptist Church in Belleville, his hometown. Glenn strives for excellence and as a
motivational speaker and tries to instill the same in others, especially the ex-drug addicts to whom he offers
Spiritual direction. Glenn always exhibits leadership, teamwork and a determination to “get the job done.”
