Erie was born in Louisiana and moved to Davis where she ultimately became and is, the present Executive Director. She is no stranger to the arts as noted by her graduate degrees if Masters in Creative Writing and a second Masters in Dance. Under her direction, the DAC mission has been to provide a gathering place for the dynamic engagement with the arts through multidisciplinary classes and programs for the regional community that inspires creative expression in people of all ages and fosters an environment for the arts to flourish. The DAC presently offers more than three hundred classes in multimedia art, music, martial arts, physical well-being, and a host to a variety of theatre and musical performances. Two programs that have brought a great deal of interest to the public have been Junk 2Genius and Discover Art. She emphasized that the goal of the DAC will always be developing programs to include the community needs. Funding is always a concern for the arts, and avenues of increasing income are a concern. Recently, the DAC was awarded a $250,000 grant from the James Irvine Foundation (by the way, the DAC was invited to apply). This award was given on the merit of the smallest community to receive funding to focus of “community involvement” in the arts!
