32.0 Purpose and Scope
This chapter provides general guidelines and instructions on recording relationships between a person, family, or
corporate body and related corporate bodies.
32.1 Related Corporate Body
32.1.1 Basic Instructions on Recording Relationships to a Related Corporate
Body
32.1.1.1 Scope
A related corporate body is a corporate body that is associated with the person, family, or corporate body
being identified (e.g., a musical group to which a person belongs, a subsidiary company).
Related corporate bodies include corporate bodies that precede or succeed the corporate body being
identified as the result of a change of name.
The relationship to the related corporate body is recorded by using an authorized access point and/or
identifier representing the related corporate body.

Take information on related corporate bodies from any source.
32.1.1.3 Recording Relationships to a Related Corporate Body
Record a relationship to a related corporate body by applying the general guidelines at 29.4.

32.2.1.1 Scope
An explanation of relationship is information elaborating on or clarifying the relationship to a related corporate
body.

Take information explaining a relationship from any source.
32.2.1.3 Recording Explanations of Relationships
Record an explanation of the relationship to a related corporate body if considered important for
identification or clarification.
The National Library of Canada and the National Archives of Canada merged in 2003 to form
Library and Archives Canada
The American-Asian Educational Exchange was founded in 1957. In 1962 the name was
changed to American Afro-Asian Educational Exchange. In 1967 the name American-Asian
Educational Exchange was resumed

As per the family genealogy committee, the official form of the surname of all of the American
