Three short films shot in Jamaica with a 100 per cent Jamaican crew, 100 per cent Jamaican talent, and 100 per cent Jamaican production service companies. 17:00 Perú: A LOS 40 (Comedy) Dir: Bruno Ascenzo / 2014 / 100 min A los 40 dominated 2014 box offices in Peru and went on to become the second highest-grossing Peruvian film of all time. The comedy follows a group of 40 year-olds as they prepare for a casual reunion with old friends that will force them to re-examine their lives. A festival celebrating Latin American and Caribbean cinema with a sample of recently made films from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela. It is an opportunity to discover more about the vibrant and diverse Latin American and Caribbean cultures through the films showcased at the festival that range from comedy, to contemporary and historical drama. A tantalizing sample of Latin and Caribbean foods and drinks will also be available during the run of the festival. The event is sponsored and organized by the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Embassies (GRULAC) in South Africa and is hosted in collaboration with the Open Window Institute School of Film Arts.
