 NYC SALT is running a one-­‐week SUMMER PHOTO CAMP for middle school students at the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center NYC SALT seeks to engage our students through professionally led volunteer instruction in photography and digital technology, to inspire our students by exposing them to the professional world of the visual arts, and to empower our students with strong values and opportunities to achieve higher education and greater access to stable and rewarding careers. NYC SALT serves low-­‐income and immigrant youth from 11-­‐18 years old in New York City. http://www.nycsalt.org/ Application deadline: May 15, 2016 Please submit completed application to [email protected] APPLICATION: Seeing your City What: Seeing your City is a one-­‐week long free DAY camp for middle school students. The camp classes will cover the basics of digital photography, teaching students how to see pictures in the world around them through an understanding of composition, light, color and moment. Students will spend at least half of each day taking pictures with cameras provided by the program, practicing what they learn. The camp will be taught by a professional photographer and an NYC SALT studio Residency Program student or alumni. Please note: Only students who qualify for the free or reduced price lunch program are eligible for the Summer Photo Camp. Where: Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center, 320 East 94th St. New York, NY 10128. During the weeks of the camp, we will bring students out to photograph at nearby tried and true prime photo-­‐op locales. When: Session A – Monday, July 11 – Friday July 15 from 9:30am-­‐3:30pm each day. Session B – Monday July 18 – Friday July 22 from 9:30am-­‐3:30pm each day. Each session will culminate in an exhibit of the students’ work from the week with a reception to which all friends and family are invited and strongly encouraged to attend. *Note: Please indicate which session you prefer in your application. Students are required to get to and from the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center on their own or with a family member/friend. No transportation or reimbursement of subway fare will be provided. •
This is a great program for students who have an interest in photography or art in general. Creative types will really benefit from this camp. We encourage students to consider applying to the school year NYC SALT program when they reach high school age. •
Each student admitted to the camp will need to have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian (see below). •
Lunch will be provided. •
Only students who qualify for free or reduced price lunch are eligible for the program. •
