Unpacking Your GoDigital System
Install and Ground the MSA Shelf
Ensure DC power is connected to the MSA Shelf.
Bring CO GND off of shelf directly to master ground bar.
Verify proper MDF protector (Siecor #6SSH or equivalent).

Identify the ADSL Pairs
At the terminal block, identify the ADSL pairs from the
DSLAM. These should be the pairs that will be jumpered
directly to the blocks for the GoDigital shelf.

Verify the DSLAM Connection
Connect an ADSL modem directly to the pairs from the
DSLAM terminal block to ensure the modem will sync up.

Install the GoDigital Terminal Blocks
Connect the ADSL connection to the GoDigital terminal
block. Bring jumper from ADSL pairs identified in STEP 3 onto
GoDigital terminal blocks. Ensure the ADSL pairs from the DSLAM
are properly wire-wrapped to the correct port.
Follow these 10 steps to test the
four ADSL connections through
the XCel-4a in the central office.

Connect the Field Pair to MSA Shelf
Bring the field pair from the shelf out to the terminal blocks.
Connect AMP connectors from DSL A / DSL B on back of MSA
shelf to the terminal blocks for the field pair. Refer to Tables 10-2,
11-1, and 11-2 of Install Note 10108_rD for pinouts of DSL A and B.

Connect the ADSL to the MSA Shelf
8
Bring the ADSL connections from the GoDigital terminal
block to the MSA shelf. Connect AMP connectors from
H1-H10 on back of 23” MSA shelf (C1-C8 for the 19” shelf) to the
terminal blocks. This is the CO pair, with one AMP connector for two
slots. There are four (4) ADSL connections per card.
Connect Field Elements for Testing
At the terminal block, connect all the field elements to be
deployed. At the remote terminal, unscrew the lug, insert wires
(unstripped) into the holes based on gauge of wire and then tighten
the lug back down. A bar will come down across the wire and cut into
the insulation, making contact. Always make sure to properly ground
the OSP elements using the grounding lug.

Quick Star t
Guide
Insert XCel-4a CTU line card into the appropriate slot in the
shelf and watch system link up.
System is linked when the SHDSL Link LED on the CTU and the
CO Link LED on the RTU are solid. If there are other OSP elements in
the loop (STRs or STRMs), their LEDs should also be solid.
Verify balanced voltages on all spans.

Verify ADSL Drop Channels
Once the CO Link LED on the remote is solid, connect an
ADSL modem to each of the ADSL drops from the RTU.
The CPE LED will flash, then it will remain solid once a connection is
established. After each port has linked up, follow cable pair pre-qualification
recommendations and Configur8r directions for OSP placement.
