At the Computer:
In this project, we will focus on using one of the new AccuQuilt features in the
updated EmbroideryWorks software. This update works in both the Mac and
the PC operating systems.
1. Open the program by clicking on the EmbroideryWorks
icon on
the desktop.
2. Set up the workspace with the 200mm x 300mm hoop. Click on
Preferences and select the Hoops category. Select the .pes file format
from a complete list of the hoops. Select the 200mm x 300mm hoop.
Place a checkmark next to Rotate 90° and click OK (as shown in the
illustration below).
3. To create the stars and stripes design follow the next set of steps:
Click on the Merge Designs icon
on the top toolbar.
Click on the down arrow under the Catalog tab and select the
AccuQuilt Appliqué category.

Scroll down and select the first stem (as shown in the following
illustration).
Click OK to place the design on the workspace.
To duplicate the design right click and select Copy, Paste.
Move the duplicated strip below the first strip. Create six strips.
Select the first duplicated design and move the cursor over the
blue dot in the upper right corner on the selection box. When the
tool turns into a rotate symbol, rotate the design. The tool is shown
in the following illustration with the red arrow.
Move the design to the top left side of the hoop (as shown in the
following illustration).
Rotate the remaining five stripes in the same manner while
referring to the following illustration for placement of the stripes.
To add the star, click on the Merge Designs icon
on the top
toolbar.
Scroll down and open the Star 55028 designs.

desired.
4. Click on File Save As (Stitch and Working File). The working file
format is .be.
5. Click on the Print
icon to print a template for exact placement of
the design.
At the Cutting Table:
1. Cut two pieces from the white fabric 21” x 15” larger than the 200mm
x 300mm hoop. After completing the embroidery trim the sections to
14½” x 9¼”.
2. Cut four pieces from the red and blue prints 4¼” x 2¾” for the inside
sashing.
3. Cut three 2½” wide strips across the width of the light blue fabric for
the outer sashing.
4. Fuse the Baby Lock Appliqué stabilizer to the back side of the two
fabrics that will be used for the appliquéd areas on the pillow while
following the manufacturer’s directions.
5. Using the AccuQuilt Go! System cut 12 strips from the red print using
the GO! Die Stems and Leaves. Place the fused strips only over the
same stem shape that was used from EmbroideryWorks. Set them
aside.
6. Cut two large star shapes using the GO! Die Stars from the navy blue
fabric. Set them aside.
At the Embroidery Machine and Sewing Machine:
1. Hoop the tear-away stabilizer and the white fabric centered in the hoop.
2. With the machine set up for embroidery, retrieve the Star and Stripes
design.
3. Embroider the design while following the color stops. The first color
stop for each unit is the positioning step and is used to perfectly place
the appliquéd shape.
4. The second color stop is for embroidering the design to the fabric.
5. Follow these steps until all units have been appliquéd.
6. Hoop the last white section and repeat embroidery Steps 1-5.

7. Using a ¼” seam allowance, sew the four 4¼” x 2¾” sections together
along the long edges.
8. Sew the pieced section to the appliquéd sections as shown in the
following illustration.
9. Sew the 2 ½” wide sashing to the outer edge on each of the longs sides
and then the short side. Trim as needed to square the ends. Press the
seams away from the center.
10.Set the machine up for quilting.
11.Sandwich the muslin, batting and the pieced front of the pillow on a flat
surface. Quilt the sections together as desired.
12.Bind the table runner and enjoy!
