Objective: SWBAT graph square root and cube root functions.
Pre-Class:
Graph y = -2x + 3
7.5 Graphing Square Root and Cube Root Functions
y = √x
and
y = ∛x
are called radical functions
(1, 1)
(0, 0)

Graphs of radical functions:
To graph y = a√x - h + k or y = a∛x - h + k, follow these steps:
1) Sketch the graph of y = a√x or y = a∛x and notice that
y = a√x passes through (1, a) and y = a∛x passes through
(-1, -a) and (1, a).
2) Shift the graph h units horizontally
3) Shift the graph k units vertically.
Example: Graph y = 2√x - 2 + 1

Example: Graph y = √x + 1 - 3
Example: Graph y = -3 √x - 2 + 1
