Credit Load: (with website)
The average credit load for UF graduate business students is 12-16 credits per semester. 90% of
the business courses are 4 credits each. Other university courses vary greatly in credits. Students
can take courses throughout the university as departments permit.
3 UF credits = 5 ECTS credits = about 60 total hours of work (class attendance, lectures, readings,
projects, etc.)
Note: Students must be register for a minimum of 12 credits per semester. Students can register
for a maximum of 18 credits per semester. This usually averages out to 4 or 5 classes. The average
course load at UF is 12-16 credit hours.
Classes meet in a classroom one hour per week for every credit hour. Thus, a 4 credit hour course
will meet in the classroom 4 hours each week for the entire semester (16 weeks).Professors expect
students to prepare 1-2 hours outside of the classroom for every credit hour enrolled. For one
business course, a student will be in the classroom 4 hours a week AND spend an additional 4-8
hours PER WEEK preparing for the course.
Exchange students should plan for a commitment of 16 hours for each 4 credit class.
Recommended Student Schedule:
4 credits: Core course - recommended
4 credits: Business Elective #1
4 credits: Business Elective #2
3 credits: Elective taught by other UF colleges
Total = Minimum 12 / Maximum 18

All Undergraduate Exchange Business students should plan on taking at least one of the Business
Core courses. These courses are taught via "Electronic Platform" which allows students to attend
the lectures and view lectures on the internet. Space is always available in these classes for
exchange students. Learn more about electronic platform classes.
Undergraduate Exchange Business students have access to courses on the Business Electives list,
but seats are not guaranteed in these courses. Some courses on this list are not offered every
term, and others have limited availability. Please review the Schedule of Courses posted by the
University of Florida Registrar, to view the offerings for a specific semester. Courses are organized
by department (e.g., the course "Debt & Money Markets" is listed under Finance, Insurance & Real
Estate). Although you will not be able to register yourself, you can inquire about the availability of
seats in a given course by searching for spaces on ISIS. You can find directions for ISIS in the Predeparture guide for exchange students.

Housing(with website)
Housing in Gainesville:
There are two types of housing available to UF students. On-campus housing is accommodation
located on campus and managed through the UF Office of Housing and Residence Education.
Students also have the option to live Off-campus in an apartment complex or house. Due to the
high number of students and the limited space of on-campus housing, many of you should expect
to live off-campus. Gainesville is full of students and there are many housing options at all levels of
comfort and price. Information is sent to students by the International Center upon acceptance as
an exchange student.
University of Florida: Department of Housing: http://www.housing.ufl.edu/ The official Housing
website can provide you with a wealth of information pertaining to on-campus housing options and
procedures. If you need additional information, you may call the Housing Office at 392-2171 and
dial “0” for personal assistance. The deadlines to apply are:
• Interest Form Submission deadline – May 1st
• Application/Contract/Payment deadline – July 1st
Information about Housing Rules and Regulations can be found at the Department of Housing and
Residence Education website: http://www.housing.ufl.edu/reslife/commstandards/index.php
Weaver International House:
http://www.housing.ufl.edu/aie/weaver.php
The International Center and the UF Division of Housing are pleased to offer exchange students and
American students the opportunity to live together in this on-campus housing residence. The
International House at Weaver Hall is a multicultural learning community in a residential setting.
Weaver houses upto 70 international students from UF exchange programs around the world.
International exchange students are paired with UF degree seeking roommates to share cultural
experiences and practice language skills. The UF degree seeking students that international
students are placed with are undergraduate students typically 18-19 years of age. Each floor in
Weaver Hall is designated as male or female and each floor has common bathroom facilities, a floor
lounge, and a kitchen. Space in this residence hall is in high demand, so make your plans early and
have a backup plan in case you there is no availability.

Location
Florida points to Cuba from the southeast of the United States and separates the Atlantic Ocean
from the Gulf of Mexico. It is known for its beaches and sunshine, but the State's north also
features inland lakes and forests. Much of Florida is completely flat with low-lying coastlands, some
of which is swampy. The north of Florida contains rolling country dotted with thousands of lakes,
but nowhere in the State is there anything approaching hilly terrain.
Climate
The climate of North and Central Florida is humid subtropical. South Florida has a tropical climate.
Florida is one of the most tornado-prone states in the United States. During mid-summer, dust
emanating from Africa affects the state, turning skies white and decreasing air quality

Resit Policy
Please note that UF business courses do not have a ¡
°re-sit¡
± policy. Classes are designed so that
you have anywhere from 1-3 exams throughout the course. You only have one opportunity to take
an examination. Most classes have 2 exams: a mid-term exam in the middle of the course and a
final exam at the end of the course. Please remember that the grade you receive is the grade that
will be on your transcript or official school record. You will not be allowed to retake the exam at a
later time for a better grade. If you are struggling in a course, you should meet with the professor
during office hours for extra help.
