Name: __________
Test Date: _______
1. Terminology and formulas: go over the following terms and understand their meaning. Make sure you understand and can use the formulas related to these terms. You will be provided with a copy of the EQAO formula sheet for the test.
Cylinder, prism, squarebased prism, cube, circle, volume, area, perimeter, circumference, parallelogram, rectangle, trapezoid, square, circle, triangle, π, radius, diameter, height, prism, pyramid, composite figure, Pythagorean theorem, right triangle, hypotenuse.
2. Perimeter and Area of circles, rectangles, parallelograms, square, trapezoid.
3. Volume of 3D figures
Volume of cylinders: Volume of rectangular prisms:; Volume of a prism: Volume of a pyramid: or Volume of a Sphere: 5. Area and Perimeter of a Composite Figures.
6. Solving Right Triangles using Pythagorean Theorem: or 7. Applications or word problems that use all of the above formulas or concepts.

8. Optimizations Problems:
a) For a fixed perimeter, the rectangle the will give the maximum (biggest) area is a SQUARE.
Example: If you have 200 m of fence to put around a rectangular garden, what dimensions will give you the maximum area?
b) For a fixed perimeter, the rectangle with only 3 sides (for example against a wall) that will given the maximum (biggest) area has a LENGTH THAT IS TWICE THE WIDTH.
Example: If you have 200m of fence to put around a rectangular garden against a wall, what dimensions will give you the maximum area?
